Dervisis

Nikolaos Dervisis is a producer, songwriter and dj from Athens, Greece. In his music he tries to create an environment where global pop culture and Eastern Mediterranean influences can co-exist. He has been characterised a “musical chameleon”*, as his colourful laptop-based productions blend beats influenced by darbuka patterns (an Arabic drum common in Balkan and Middle Eastern music), floating textural melodies and intimate vocals. The result is “super catchy songs with adventurous sonics”**

Dervisis has been making music by himself since 2010 through various projects, but most notably as Kid Flicks. His releases include 2 homemade LPs released by greek label Inner Ear Records in 2011 and 2013 and a third and last album as Kid Flicks (Klik Records, 2016) which elevated his former DIY sound into a richer sonic spectrum. Simultaneously Dervisis has remixed artists such as Tendts, Liphemra and A Victim of Society. His music has been well received by media such as The 405, Impose Magazine, CBC Arts, DIY, GoldFlakePaint and more.

Dervisisʼ live act has gone through many fluctuations: from iPod & mic karaoke style solo shows to dual-drummer 4-piece line ups, but his energetic and upbeat vibes has remained the same. Currently, he performs with Athenian drummer Danae Palaka.
