Derwood

My music ranges from being very energetic to slow and easy. If I have influences I usually learn a tune or two from them. I'm a pretty average guy, I'm not sure I would really stand out in a crowd, but I pride myself in my sense of humour and quick wit. Growing up as a teenager in Melville, Saskatchewan, most of the kids were into the punk scene of the '90's, but I was in my basement learning "Stairway to Heaven", and classic rock of that kind. I was jamming here and there with friends but never really starting a band or anything, due to my taste at that time for the '70's. Then later on, after I graduated, I got into a lot of Grunge, as it's referred to, and definately based my style on it at the time in my own writing. I was in a few bands here and there, but played very few shows. I was trying to really find guys who wanted to move it along a bit. Then some buddies and I started a band called The Anodyne, and that was actually going not too badly for a while....but man drummers.....So that kinda fizzled out, people got busy and somewhere in the carnage, I picked up a 12-string guitar and began writing some folky tunes. I actually rather enjoyed this, so I kept up with playing it, along with trying to get the other band rocking. Over time my efforts became futile and I had to accept the fact that if I wanted to be a musician I had to go it alone....So here I am, Derwood... a solo 12-string acoustic guitar act writing, recording, playing and enjoying the thing we all love.....The MUSIC!!!
