If "the Ramones met Nirvana and played at a cantina," you'd have the sound of Descarga, says singer Hector Ivan Garcia. We agree, though he might be underplaying his band's nods to pop-punks Blink-182 and Green Day. Formed in 2000 on Chicago's South Side, the rock en espanol quartet is made up entirely of first-generation Mexican-Americans. The band regularly gigs throughout the city, having landed shows at Little Village's rock epicenter La Justicia and the Old Town School of Folk Music. With a handful of demos under its belt, Descarga is in the process of recording its first full-length album.

[.DESCARGA.] (la descarga de conocimiento e información vía el entretenimiento de música), es el cuarteto de rock en español basado en Chicago compuesto de primera generacion mexico-americanos. Su herencia cultural les ha dado la habilidad de fusionar diversos recursos de musica desde sonidos Mexicanos tradicionales y artistas como Juan Gabriel, Los Tigres del Norte, Jaguares y Cafe Tacuba y combinarlos con musica moderna estadounidense de grupos y artistas como The Ramones, Nirvana y Jimi Hendrix. Esto no sólo aumenta el sonido y el estilo de su música, pero también los permite agregar un sabor diverso a su material. La habilidad de fundir tantos diferentes estilos musicales junto con la creatividad contribuida por cada miembro de la banda presenta a [.DESCARGA.] con oportunidades sin limite para componer.

[.DESCARGA.] se enorgullece en ser parte de la comunidad de rock en español de Chicago. Su participación incluye presentaciones gratuitas que tratan con asuntos de comunidad, incluyendo tales eventos como: Recaudacion de fondos para United Farmworkers, Recaudacion de fondos para el Centro Academico Multicultural Cesar Chavez, Huelga de la Calle 31 para una escuella en La Villita, evento benefico de E>N>E TV y varios otros eventos culturales en beneficio a la comunidad.
[.DESCARGA.] tambien ha participado en eventos tan importantes como: Jaguarton (Ciudad Juarez, Mexico), MOBfest, Fiesta Del Sol, el PRIMER evento de rock latino completamente independiente en Double Door de Chicago y a consecuencia de ese en el PRIMER evento de rock latino en el bien reconocido Old Town School of Folk Music. Ademas, fueron seleccionados como la unica banda de rock en español para participar en el concierto "Rock'n'Vote" auspiciado por el periodico Red Eye del Chicago Tribune junto con Metromix que se llevo acabo con tres bandas finalistas en Metro. [.DESCARGA.] tambien ha sido incluido en varios discos compilacion incluyendo MOBfest 2002 y la edicion Verano 2005 de BOOM Magazine.

[.DESCARGA.] (the unloading of knowledge and information onto the masses via the medium of music entertainment) is Chicago's very own Spanish rock quartet comprised of 1st generation Mexican-Americans. Their heritage has given them the ability to pull from such diverse sources of music ranging from traditional Mexican sounds and artists like Juan Gabriel, Los Tigres Del Norte, Jaguares and Cafe Tacuba to modern American tunes performed by such artists as The Ramones, Nirvana and Jimi Hendrix. This not only enhances the sound and style of their music, but it also allows them to add a diverse flavor to their material. Their ability to fuse different musical styles along with the creativity contributed by each band member, present [.DESCARGA.] with unlimited opportunities for composing.

HISTORY
[.DESCARGA.] is proud to be a member of Chicago's growing rock-en-español community. Their involvement includes performing free shows dealing with community issues, including fund raisers for: United Farmworkers, Cesar Chavez Multicultural Academic Center, La Huelga on 31st Street for La Villita High School, Casa Aztlan, E>N>E TV Show, Pilsen Cultural Celebration and various other cultural fundraising events.
[.DESCARGA.] has also participated in such important events as MOBfest, Fiesta Del Sol, Jaguarton (Ciudad Juarez, Mexico), the first ever all latin independent rock showcase at Chicago’s Double Door and consequently the first ever rock en Español showcase at world famous Old Town School of Folk Music. They were also chosen as the only latin rock band to participate in Chicago Tribune’s Red Eye Newspaper and Metromix.com’s Rock’n’Vote concert at Metro. [.DESCARGA.] have also been included on various compilation CD’s including MOBfest 2002 and BOOM Magazine's Summer 2005 Edition. Additionally, they have shared the stage with such acts as La Cuca, Lucybell, Victimas del Dr. Cerebro, Leprosy, Genitallica, Real de Catorce and Cecilia Toussaint among others.
