Should Deschannel redefine retro-futurism, he would basically
establish the refusal of a future which gets easier for us to imagine but harder to really consider ...

Biography

If the perspectives for our future presented by science-fiction
writers like Orwell and Huxley appear as incredibly visionary, the future we have been SOLD is quite different from the future we are PAYING FOR today...

Beyond an imaginary and mystified nostalgia for the romantic and technological vision, which other relatively inspired writers and film makers have produced about future and "progress", appears a genuine criticism of the modern world and the perspectives it provides.

In this atmosphere of political, social, philosophical
and artistic ugliness, Deschannel's retro-futurism strives to draw a melodic and aesthetic poetry from the past which, despite its electronic nature, manages to convey the organic strength of a human being mastering his machine...

Mastering his technology, mastering his future ...

The music by Deschannel was recorded 'the old way', one take after another, almost without sequences while occasional drum machines were also played live throughout the process.

The use of the drums reinforces the human dimension which
becomes essential in order to cultivate these electronic gardens...

Electronic music which claims a poetic and home-made
character: here is the genuine talent of Deschannel !

Influenced both by precursors like François De Roubaix and
Kraftwerk, and by their worthy successors Air and Boards Of Canada, Deschannel means to get his (robotic) voice heard by all, in an artistic move that won't oppose tradition and progress any more but rather once and for all shout out loud : "Modern ? Progress !"
