desolation angel-desolation angel

After years of perfecting his art, songwriter and guitarist Ben Porter decided to do some professional recording. An old friend and singer Andrew Lowenstein gave voice to the poetic lyrics and a few songs turned into a full cd.

The cd has a "classic rock" feel produced by Tom Tincler at Tinwolf Studio. The result of this magical collaboration is "desolation angel". The name came from a poem turned song Ben wrote inspired by beat generation writer Jack Kerouac's novel Desolation Angels. Influences range from the Grateful Dead, Jimmy Page, Ritchie Blackmore, Alvin Lee and Pink Floyd to Van Morrison, Jim Croce and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Desolation angel combines a bluesy mix of acoustic rhythms and finger picking, edgier lead guitar.

The lyrics are introspective with close attention to rhyme, rhythm and alliteration with a poets touch. This is a deeply personal and passionate album about loss redemption and hope.

Ben and Andrew have come a long way since Winchester High School and jamming together in Andrew's attic. Ben went to Boston College and formed the local group Oasis playing clubs and colleges in and around Boston and Lowell. Andrew played the ski town bar circuit from California to Colorado before settling on Cape Cod gaining a local following with his jam band "Slow Children". Tom Tincler toured the country extensively with the progressive rock band "Lord of the Rings".
