"desolation angels at the Motor City Music Conference"

Desolation Angels: This alcohol-fueled Detroit country-rock three-piece is as likely to hit listeners with a blast of riffs reminiscent of Replacements or Social Distortion as it is jangly finger-picking....

Thursday’s MCR Showcase kicked off a very successful three days of rock at the 313.Jac. Desolation Angels gave the night a rollicking start, knocking around excitable songs that blended traces of blues and rockabilly with straight rock and country.

Bio

To pigeonhole desolation angels into one particular musical genre is impossible to accomplish and a mistake to try. With a unique sound that draws equally from Powerpop Punk (Replacements, Soccial Distortion), Rockabilly Country (Johnny Cash, BR5-49) and true garage rock (The Sonics, White Stripes), desolation angels let their songs rather than their style do the talking.

Somewhere between heaven and hell lie the desolation angels...
The souls all about you with longing in their throats and conviction in their eyes.
The sound is unique, Detroit rock and roll that knows where it comes from.
From black and white southerners singing as they work on the line...
from young detroit kids practicing in their garages saying 'fuck the status quo'...
From lonely nights in an industrial city and hard days between the concrete and steel.
Part country, part blues, part punk: all soul.
desolation angels-detroit: dan mckernan, the songwriting singing/guitar picker, eric oliver, the ever-energetic bassist and erik pelto, the fury and feeling behind the drums.
Their resume is impressive, from the Magic Bag to the Lager House, Alvins to Hockeytown Cafe, D-Pollen festival to Motor City Music Conference to the Hamtramck Blowout. But the true key is at their shows and in their songs.
Because in our hearts, late at night, on that unlit highway, aren't we all...desolation angels?
