Biography

Desta is a 24 year old singer & songwriter with international experience. Anglo-Eritrean, Desta was born in Bangkok and has lived in Barbados, France, Côte d’Ivoire, Jordan, UK, Belgium, and Brazil-- and is currently based in the Philippines.As a lead singer and backing vocalist for artists like double Grammy winner Michael Bublé and Grammy-nominated Afropean diva Zap Mama, Desta has performed in the UK, Russia, New Zealand, Australia, America, Tunisia, Turkey, the Philippines, and Brazil.A first solo EP was signed to a label in 2008. As lead singer and songwriter of her own group, The Elements, she produced and released their first CD in 2009. Fluent in English, French and Portuguese, Desta has also studied Spanish, Dutch, Turkish, Arabic and Tagalog.

Now, what do you get when you blend soul, funk, pop, jazz and Afro Latino vibes? What do you get when you mix musicians from Belgium, Colombia, Spain, Ghana, England, Eritrea, Congo, French Guiana and Chile? You get THE ELEMENTS. The music is festive, vibrant, original and fresh. Each composition is a celebration of encountering new places and people, experiences, travels and the daily life of this musical family. Together since 2007, THE ELEMENTS produced and released their debut album "One" in the summer of 2009. The CD, like their live show, is pure positivity-- so come and get involved!
