DESTENEE

BandR&BPop

Soulful R&B/Pop vocals with cross over appeal. Organic music with classical, latin, and jazz influences

Biography

An incredibly gifted pianist, vocalist, songwriter and producer, Destenee’s talent and ambition were ultimately too powerful for the young artist to stay in the small town of Winchester Massachusetts, and since moving to Los Angeles, she has learned to appreciate and value her diverse roots. Alternately weaving joy and pain, hope and love into her ingenious compositions, the 18 year old crafts an exceptional journey that is ultimately unraveled in her highly anticipated debut album “Destination”. Her powerful and sultry voice and her amazing piano performance are truly outstanding on her popular singles “I Love You”, “Galaxy Baby”, and “I Need to Know” featuring Poc Dawone.

“My music has elements from various genres,” she says. “I have been playing classical piano since I was five and I enjoyed creating my own versions of anything from Mozart, Beethoven, Ornette Coleman, Miles Davis or Louis Armstrong. I also love Jazz and the Latin sounds of Salsa. I love to use my computer but my music is organic… I use live instruments in all my songs!”

Talented at a level that belies her age, Destenee has had the opportunity to work along the sides of industry heavy hitters such as the legendary George “Funky” Brown from Kool and the Gang, and Sterling Davis, acclaimed songwriters Luigie Gonzalez, Margo Thunder, Nasri Atweh, Sandy Joyce, and Tonie Goldsmith, up and coming producers I.C.U, Choice, and Switch Hitters, and Mega producers DaRock, and Lil Steve from the Underdogs.

A natural in the recording studio, Destenee has the rare ability to produce her own vocals and record her own backgrounds while producing, composing, arranging, and playing her own instruments over self made tracks. Self-taught only on her home computer, she has worked herself up from FL Studio to Cubasis, and is now mastering Reasons and Pro- Tools. Destenee also attended the prestigious Musicians Institute in Hollywood CA, where she was able to polish her instinctive engineering and music production abilities.

Destenee’s multifaceted lifestyle has also exposed her to a variety of other opportunities. She has been featured in print ads, television commercials, and she was principal on the popular television children’s series: “Concert in Angel Land.” One of her latest appearances was as a special guest on “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno. Under the tutelage of John Homa, Destenee’s acting skills have landed her a role on the up and coming film “We are Family” directed by James “Choice” Skinner.

Destenee’s exquisite dancing abilities, when creatively combined with her choreographed show, rivals the best in the business. And her full band has been touring with the acclaimed S.E.A.P. and “The School Tour”, enchanting middle school and high school audiences throughout the United States with a high powered dance show. Destenee’s upcoming European tour will set the standard for the Superstar status that awaits her!

Destenee is making history by reinventing how music is made. She does not hesitate in combining sounds, genres, and live music is her passion! Destenee is now ready to share her fresh new and exciting style; her journey is her Destination…

VERSE 1
Sit around and I think of you
And all the crazy things we used to do
But now you seem so far away
Left your side
I wasn't meant to stay
Thinking back I was a fool to leave
Now I'm holding on to memories
Of you
And me
And what we used to be

CHORUS
Cause something's changed
Inside
And I'm ready to believe
That we can spend
Some time
Focusing on you and me
And ways
To find
The better parts of what we left behind

VERSE 2
Every day feels like a century
Waiting for someone to rescue me
Let you slip from underneath my lips
All these others try to match your kiss
Out of all the mistakes I've made
In my life
I regret this the most
I cannot lie
There is just no way
I can’t admit that its over
When we should be closer

CHORUS

BRIDGE
After all the things you told me
It can't end like this
After all the things you showed me
It can't end like this
You taught me how true colors always shine through
But it took me someone else to know I love you
And I'm sorry
So sorry
So sorry
So sorry
So sorry

LIES

LIES

LYRICS BY DESTENEE
MUSIC BY DOV SERROT
ASCAP Title Code:422058919

VERSE 1
In the early morning so many thoughts go through my head
Replaying what you said last week
I don’t know how I let you
Tell me I could
Never be
Enough for you
And you said it to justify the reason why I
Caught you with some other girl early that night
Two roads
One TRUTH
One LIES

CHORUS
All the things you said to me I was never good enough
And you looked me in the eyes saying “this is just tough love”
But they were LIES LIES LIES LIES
They were lies LIES LIES LIES LIES
And all the time I spent with you never asking for too much
Yet everything I did for you it never seemed enough
But they were LIES LIES LIES LIES
They were LIES LIES LIES LIES

VERSE 2
And I used to be so foolish
Thinking that you cared but
You were never there to
Help me when I fell down
Yet you were always there to tell me how I messed things up
And you said it to justify the reason why I
No longer am the girl you dream about at night
Two roads
One TRUTH
One LIES

CHORUS

BRIDGE
Out of all of the bad memories one stands out the most
I had bought a new dress and had my hair done up
Just for you
Just for you
And what did you do
You said that I was trying to be
Someone else that was better than me
To think I used to dress up for you
To think I only thought about you
But now I realize
That those words you told me
Were LIES
CHORUS (repeat 2x with add libs)

Verse 1
You see me walking through the door
And its been a while
Bet you missed my smile
And I won’t lie it took me some time
To get over you
But I’ve moved on and now I’m walking past you

Through the door
Past the bouncers
And the DJ
You’re looking at me
The whole way
It’s clear your wishing that
You could change your words
And take me back

Chorus
I can see you’re looking at me
And even while you watch me dance
Slowly
I know that you wanna hold me
But I’m not even with you NO MORE
I can tell you’re watching closely
It’s obvious you wanna dance slowly
I even know you wanna hold me
But I’m not even with you know NO MORE

NO MORE,
No no
Cause I'm not even with you NO MORE

Verse 2
As I sit down you approached me saying:
“How you’ve been baby, you know I’ve been thinking lately…”
So I cut you off to let you know
that I’ve let you go
then,
I stand up and walked past you

Through the door
Past the bouncers
And the DJ
You’re looking at me
The whole way
It’s clear your wishing that
You could change the past

Chorus

Bridge
It’s been some time since I saw you
A few months and yes I’ve moved on to
Better things don’t think need a king to
Run my life
Go out when I like to

And I know you wish you had done me right
Cause you’re paying for it tonight.

Chorus (repeat 2x)
