Bio

In the summer of 1987, the face of a Rasta man eating watermelon under a banana tree, hanged on the stand panels outside the clubs of Athens, gives the first landmark of the "DE TRACES" music.
The sound of Ska and Rock steady music from the Jamaica of the 60's inspires Sakis Belegris, Costas Thomaides and Alexandros Metaxas to create the band. De Traces soon start live performances to various clubs in Athens (Kittaro, Rock Pallais, Jamaica Reggae Club, e.t.c.) as well as to clubs all over Greece, gaining significant audience and praising comments from the press.
The style of the music and the party atmosphere that is created at DE TRACES` live performances soon makes them known to the public.
In early 1990, DE TRACES proceed to their first record participation with their own song "(De return of) De Saints" in the "Studio II Collection". At the same time they expand their music's boarders and new members add up to the synthesis of the band. Reggae plays now the most important role while the influence of other musical trends is more and more evident.
Live performances, all over Greece, are now more frequent, creating a myth for the most travelled band of the Greek stage. With their new synthesis, DE TRACES record in the summer of '90, their own version of the latin-ska hit "Big Bamboo" of the Jamaican Lord Creator, which is released a few months later by Elfish Records in the collection "Random Relations I". The song becomes a club hit by many dj's all over Greece.
In 1993 they record the song of the African Amin Mekki (former member of the band) "Bill of Rights", which is released in Rock FM radio station's collection "Divin".
In January 1996, DE TRACES accept the invitation of the Ministry of Culture in Sudan and they perform in Khartoum for a warm audience with an immense musical tradition but unfamiliar to the presence of European bands.
In fall '99 they complete the remix of the c.d. album "ESTRELLA DEL CARIBE", which includes 12 songs of the group and is released through the company "Coffee Republic"
