Detroit Smoove

Brandon Baylis, better known by his stage name Smoove, is an American hip hop recording artist from Detroit, Michigan. Smoove decided on his moniker after being influenced by his father's flashy lifestyle and smooth talking vernacular.

Smoove grew up in a very musical family. The son of two middle class working parents, Smoove was exposed to music at home by his father who had a vast vinyl collection that included everything from jazz to the signature "Motown" sound. Needless to say he fell in love with all types of music at an early age.

Smoove often says he came up during "the golden era" referring to the mid 90's through the early 2000's when hip hop exploded commercially. His main influences were rap legends Tupac, Jay-Z and Notorious BIG. As a child he would memorize every line of an album and could recite anything in his collection verbatim. He also cites Rick Ross, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Fabolous and T.I. as musical influences.

Smoove is set to release his debut project "Fosgates & Forgiatos" summer of 2014. With catchy sing along hooks and witty word play Smoove looks like a future hip hop heavyweight in the making!
