So MJR the magazine had a interview scheduled through 340 records management team. The idea was to meet and talk to an up and coming musician, who, over the last 2 months has had his music start to have a buzz on the street. The type of “buzz” that make people take notice. MJR the magazine wanted to introduce Deuce Du Cartier in fashion; meaning video, lights, camera action. Plans have a tendency to change; on the fly and unexpectedly.

Sitting at the plan location of the shoot I received a call from Deuce who was just having trouble navigating the area. Traffic was bear from where he was coming, I told him no worries I can come to you and we will meet somewhere in the middle.

After seeing his video I was expecting a 6ft 5 inch guy who would be all of 200 plus pounds, instead I meet a young man with a great smile, great attitude who stood and looked much smaller in person then he does on his videos. The myth is right; cameras add 20 pounds to your weight and just as many inches to your height.

After the initial “ok, he’s not as big as i thought” wore off, I noticed that even with the notoriety that he’s received from his music, he is still an EXTREMELY down to earth and just cool person. When he was feeling a word or a moment he would say “groovy.” I was taken aback at first by that word, I mean really, who says “groovy” but that word for him just works and actually encompasses everything about him.

When he talked about his music and what it meant to him you could see the passion and the feeling at the way this “job” as an entertainer went beyond doing it for money. You can see, tell and hear it in voice he does it because he loves the music and is just trying to share it with the world.
