Deux Birds

Deux Birds is a folk, country duo comprised of Jennifer Lynn Simpson and Karl D’Amico. They combine singer/songwriter strengths with classic and modern country sounds. Formed in January 2011, Jennifer and Karl met at LAX airport, both on their way to and International Music Festival. Upon hearing each other play, Karl was moved by the quality in Jennifer’s voice and Jennifer was inspired by Karl’s unique and powerful guitar style, so they asked each other to play/sing on recordings once back in Los Angeles. After the first rehearsal, they decided to join forces to bring Jennifer’s melodic country sound and Karl’s classic rock instrumentation together.
Jennifer grew up in southern California with music-lover parents who are over 20 years apart in age, which led to a wide variety of musical influences such as Linda Ronstadt, The Beatles, Reba McEntire, Fleetwood Mac, Emmylou Harris, Jackson Browne and Joan Baez. Jennifer sang on stage with Julio Iglesias at the age of 8 and taught herself to play the piano by 10. Karl grew up in Long Island, New York and started playing guitar at the age of 12 and has been playing professionally as a studio and live musician since the age of 17. Some of Karl’s biggest influences are Neil Young, Bob Dylan and guitarist Michael Hedges.
Deux Birds has been playing live shows in Los Angeles since February 2011 and is currently recording their first album. They are unsigned.
