de've-es

BandRockAlternative

The musical style of de've-es is very diverse. There are elements of funk, metal, and alternative grooves. The vocals range anywhere from smooth melodies to raps to screams to falsetto singing. Each song has its own unique sound.

Biography

Devious - adj. - 1. Not in a straight path; roundabout; winding 2. Not following the proper or usual course; going astray 3. Not straightforward or honest; deceiving 4. Sinful

de’ve-es is comprised of four seasoned musicians. The elements comprising this band are vocals, guitar, bass and drums. They thrive on diversity in their music which sets them apart. Crossing over into different genres of music seems to be no problem or brings no fear. They, in fact, often do that within a song. You can pick out elements of funk, metal, alternative, hardcore and laid back grooves just by listening to their debut 7-song CD which was released in December of 2002. As far as the vocals, they are anywhere from extremely melodic to rap to aggressive. With a combination of the main vocals and backups, you will hear some of the most original vocal patterns not normally combined within a song.

de’ve-es’ debut CD is just a fraction of their accomplishments. They are constantly writing new material in hopes of reaching their 35 - 45 song mark by the summer. Some of the elements remain the same in a number of songs while others are totally uncharted. They also play some cover songs by the bands System of a Down, Lost Prophets, P.O.D. and 311 to name a few. You’ll find them quite often playing several sets a night combining both original and cover material.

If you can’t be completely drawn in by hearing their CD you need to see them live. Whenever you see de’ve-es you better be down for a good show. For the clubs and fans who know de’ve-es their name has become synonymous with high energy, creativity and total entertainment. There is much movement as they put their music to motion. The energy they release at their shows has landed them gigs opening for acts such as Earshot, Outspoken, Taproot, Wick, and Wolfpac.

Since their CD release party on December 27th, 2002 they have already sold over 700 copies. Their music has been featured twice on the Banana 101.5 sound check. Their CD is also in regular rotation in many of the clubs throughout mid-Michigan - - not by the bands request. The rest of their merchandise such as girl’s and guy’s shirts, stickers, hats, and jewelry have also been selling extremely well. de’ve-es can play as many shows as they can book. As of now, they play at venues from Toledo, OH to Bay City, MI. They are looking to expand to other cities and states, eventually touring year round.

de’ve-es has created a huge buzz especially for being fairly new on the scene. There has been nothing but good to say about their first CD. It has gained them a broad fan base along with some airplay. The music, live show and the guys themselves are amazing. de’ve-es is here right now and they are ready.

Lyrics

In a Son

Written By: Levi Perales

(VERSE 1)
I’ll go on wonderin’ what I did to make you feel this way
you’ll go on searchin’ for reasons why I should change why

(PRE CHORUS)
I did nothing but try
you did nothing but lie
It means nothing cause we fucked up
fucked up (X’s 2)

(CHORUS)
It’s all it’s all in a son
oh just so you’ll know
you have to let this go
and watch all the past

(VERSE 2)
the path I chose was just for me had nothing to do
fabricated rebellion you felt aimed right at you why

(PRE CHORUS)

It’s all it’s all in a son oh just so you know
you’ll have to let this go and let all the past go
and watch everything go and let all the past

It’s all it’s all in a son oh just so you know
you’ll have to let this go and let all the past go
and let all he past go and let all the past go
and let all the past go now watch everything go

Chunx

Written By: Levi Perales

(VERSE 1)
and I wonder but what will I stay
I just don’t see myself walkin’ away I
I know what’s my limit is and Ant scooped me up
so just stop asking questions and fill my cup

(FUNK)
I get this funky feelin’ I see the ceilin’ meet the floor
well then I get this funky feelin’ I see the ceilin’ meet the floor

(PRE CHORUS)
well maybe some day I’ll be a little bit wiser and
keep an eye on the events on my time line
till that day I think I’ll enjoy while I’m
drinkin’ O.E. or sippin’ on my fine wine

(CHORUS)
I’ll watch them all fall away
before I pack up and head back on my way I
I know it means nothing what’s up with these lines?
but since I wrote these ones I’ll use it this time
this time this time this time

(VERSE 2)
and I’m wonderin’ what will I stay
I just don’t see myself walkin’ away I
I know what’s my limit and Rick picked me up
so just stop asking questions and fill my cup

(FUNK)
(PRE CHORUS)
(CHORUS)

chunx

(VERSE 3)

and I wonder once again will I stay
I just don’t see myself walkin’ away I
I know what’s my limit and Nate’s got the truck
so just stop asking questions and fill my cup oh

(VERSE 4)

and I’m wonderin’ what will I stay
I just don’t see myself walkin’ away I
