Devinci The Great

Devin J. Gaston, is a 18 year old DJ from Augusta, Ga. This young talent is a definite go getter, lion-hearted with a passion for music and everything it entails. Music speaks to him in a way that nothing else does. It gives him a way to express himself and escape from reality. His love for music has driven him to want to pursue DJ-ing as a serious career, not just a hobby. In High school he was a part of the Technology Student Association (TSA) for five years and within that time he has placed top ten in the state of Georgia twice, in Music Production. In 2014 on his Bandcamp he released a beat tape titled “Timeless” that was composed of eleven songs. He named it Timeless because it was meant to inspire all ages and the content may be played for many years to come and still have the effect that it has today. 

Devin is particular about the music he pulls for a set. He takes into consideration not just what he wants to hear but what crowd he will be DJ-ing for. The crowd gives him energy and helps him to not just DJ but perform, giving the people a show to remember. He interacts with the crowd to keep them hype and moving. He plays music that all people would enjoy and get them jumping within the first song. Hip/Hop, R&B, Pop, and Alternative music are his favorite genres to mix. When mixing his music he makes sure he is mixing them so that the tracks flow and aren’t choppy. He has smooth transitions from one song to the next and that speaks for itself. As Devin has taken DJ-ing more seriously he has built a following on social media and is also building a rapport with local people. On Mixcloud he uploads his DJ mixes for his followers and others to listen. To date he has ten mixes. His most listened to being “Free Ride.” Throughout his time making mixes and looking into DJ-ing he has created a DJ name, DJ Devinci. He chose the name Devinci because his name is Devin and Leonardo Da Vinci was a great artist, who is looked upon as a great. Devin combined the two getting Devinci. He looks at himself as a young artist who wants to perfect his craft and one day be looked upon as a great.
