Folding Chair

Written By: Devlin Miles

Folding Chair
Devlin Miles ©2003

The weekends are always the hardest when I think of you
Everything’s out of focus since I warped around you
I just want to grab a blanket and crawl deep inside
And settle down beside you and let our thoughts roll by
Chorus:
And here you come with your folding chair
Setting it up in my mind
Wading in my thoughts
And dreams and pieces of my life
Now you have to live with this
You lost the love of your life
No one’s ever gonna fit
When there’s something missing inside
Remember all the roses and the cheap red wine
Then runnin’ for the ferry and missing every time
It’s even a little bit painful to write that down
Skippin upon the surface for solid ground
Chorus:
And here you come with your folding chair
Setting it up in my mind
Devouring in my thoughts
And dreams and pieces of my life
Now you have to live with this
You lost the love of your life
No one’s ever gonna fit
When there is something missing inside
Bridge:
She may be there beside you
Lying in your bed
But I’m the one that’s curled tightly up
Inside your head
By now you probably figured out that
Living in your folding chair
I still can reach you there
V3
I know we never intended to hurt like this
But even without the paper a gift is still a gift
I chose to unwrap you one sleeve at a time
You’ll never find another who can read your mind
Repeat chorus:

I Can't Wait

Written By: Devlin Miles

Ice tea and lemonade
Cookouts with the family
Bocce croquet
Bloody Marys

Break out the poker chips
Horseshoes in the pit
Kareoke
Everyone plays

Laughter in the sun
Sunblock by the ton
Coca cola
Margaritas
chorus:
I can't wait til summertime
when the days are long and the sun just shines
Harley's on the open road
and the thunderstorms in the middle of the night

Grandpa on the golf course
Grammy in her screened porch
Trading stories
Gigglin away

Momma in her big hats
Mosquitos and those damn gnats
Window fans and fireflys
Baseball games and bonfires

Street fairs and farmers markets
Cape Cod and Hampton's traffic
Guns-n-Roses, Billy Joel
Summer's comin'
Let's rock and roll it

Chorus Repeat
bridge:
Dancing in the summer rain
Skinny dipping in the lake
Watermelon in the shade
That's summer and I can't wait

Instrumental
Chorus out

Autumn's Fires

Autumn’s Fires © 2009
Devlin Miles/Rye Randa

Since the day you left this world
I have dreamed we’ll meet again
Holding onto memories
Of my youthful friends
Too young to vote
Too young to drive
But you’re never too young to fly

Chorus:
Hurt, hurt, hurting inside
I can’t stop myself from crying
Burn, burn, burning inside
Please heal these autumn’s fires
Ooo yeah, yeah
Ooo, yeah, yeah, yeah

Sifting through my life’s debris
I look to see just where I’ve been
Gripping tight to fantasies
Of what should have been
I’m too old to change
And I’m too old to try
But I am never too old to fly

Chorus:
Hurt, hurt, hurting inside
I can’t stop myself from crying
Burn, burn, burning inside
Please heal these autumn’s fires
Ooo, yeah, yeah
Ooo, yeah, yeah, yeah

Bridge:
You left us with the autumn’s fires
To remind me us we’re alive
It’s burning through the mountainside
As the flames heat up the sky
And I can see that when the smoke clears
There is life, life on the other side

Repeat chorus

The Extra Mile

Written By: Devlin Miles

V1
We walk out of the darkness and into the light
Speaking out loud for our love ones tonight
We want you to know that your life’s not in vain
As we carry you with us, you light our flame
Mothers and daughters and husbands and wives
Neighbors and friends who suffer through life
Depression is one thing that eats at our minds
It poisons our thoughts and our will to survive
Chorus:
We walk, walk on
Gather the strength to live on
When all hope seems gone
Reach for a hand and hang on
We are fierce with your fire
As we climb the extra mile
Holding hands break the silence
As we reach the extra mile
V2
We played hide-n-seek and tag on the lawn
Sisters and friends that’s how we were bonded
We drifted apart as teenagers do
Yet I’ll always remember that smile in you
Sat in the morgue as they counted your money
Read me your letters of how you were struggling
That day I swore I’d never leave you behind
‘cause I’m filled with your spirit to help other’s fight it
Chorus:
So we walk, walk on
Gather the strength to live on
When all hope seems gone
Reach for a hand and hang on
We are fierce with your fire
As we climb the extra mile
Holding hands break the silence
As we drive the extra mile
Instrumental
Bridge:
You’re not going to do this on your own
Tell that devil inside you to go home
And gather the strength to live on
Reach for a hand and hang on
And go the extra mile
Climb the extra mile
Please stay the extra mile

This Guy

Written By: Devlin Miles/Ryan Randa

This Guy
Devlin Miles/Ryan Randa ©2009

Get a load of this guy
Lost a grip on his life
Beggin money from friends
That’s no way to survive
Fillin’ pockets with greed
Teachin’ others to cheat
And it’s time he paid the price
Chorus
Wave good-bye to your friends
Kiss your wife and your kids
Cause you’ll never see the light
Spend the night in a cell
And your days in hell
And you’ll wish you made things right
And there’s nothin’ to take
Cause you’ve got nothin’ to give
When you throw away your life

You made my angel feel plain
Soaked her wings with your reign
Now she’s gone and flown away
Well, I’ve got something to say
You said I burned a bridge
And that I missed my chance
But bridges burn both ways

Chorus
Wave good-bye to your friends
Kiss your wife and your kids
Cause you’ll never see the light
Spend the night in a cell
And your days in hell
And you’ll wish you made things right
And there’s nothin’ to take
Cause you’ve got nothin’ to give
When you throw away your life
Bridge
Guess freedom’s overrated
You’d rather steal then do what’s right
Stop feeding aggravation
Making others do your time
You’re need separation
From the clouds that fill your mind (repeat chorus 2 times)

Echo

Written By: Devlin Miles

V1
I'm leaving in the morning
Even though I'm already gone
Wanted one more night to hold you
So you can cry in my arms
We told the doctors we could beat this
Only this time I was wrong
So I am leaving in the morning
Let this night roll all night long
Chorus:
I'll rock and you can roll
like we danced on our wedding night
It was sweet and it was slow
As we waited for midnight
It echoed through the snow
We were sealed together for life
And I want you to always know
I will be there in your echo
V2
I know you're heart is broken
Yet you'll try to stagger on
Draw your strength from the silence
And let your thoughts leave your soul
Be patient with your family
Let love fill your home
May laughter tickle your fancy
And your dreams keep you whole
Repeat Chorus:
I'll rock and you can roll
like we danced on our wedding night
It was sweet and it was slow
As we waited for midnight
It echoed through the snow
We were sealed together for life
And I want you to always know
I will be there in your echo
Bridge: Ooos

Repeat chorus:
I'll rock and you can roll
like we danced on our wedding night
It was sweet and it was slow
As we waited for midnight
It echoed through the snow
We were sealed together for life
And I want you to always know
I will be there in your echo

No one can tell us we're wrong
We're Superhero Females

Captured in a jar
Calling all my fairies
You know who you are

Sweet Little Bloodhound

Written By: DevlinMiles

V1
I want to hold you ‘til your bones
Keeps runnin’ through my mind
And all your little lies
You’ve been tellin’ for some time
There will be no peace tonight
Cause Hell’s ragin on the inside
Don’t kick a girl when she’s down
Or she’ll hunt you around town ...
I’m a sweet little bloodhound
Chorus:
I’ll hunt you where you hide
Catch you every time
You’ll fear me on your trail ...
sweet little bloodhound
Gonna toss you like a bone
and howl all night long
I’ll bite you in your pride
...sweet little bloodhound
V2
You said she’s just a friend
Then 1 drink led to a binge
Now you’re lying like a dog
And can’t stop textin her or callin’
I’m a fool to have believed
You wouldn’t do this to me
So it’s time to step things up
You’re not the only dog on this block ...
I’m a sweet little bloodhound
Chorus:
I’ll hunt you where you hide
Catch you every time
You’ll fear me on your trail ...
sweet little bloodhound
Gonna toss you like a bone
and howl all night long
I’ll bite you in your pride
...sweet little bloodhound
Bridge:
I stood by the door
And waited for you to come home
Nothing is as loyal
As a dog in his home
Ooo Ooo such a sweet little bloodhound
Oh yeah
I’m your sweet little bloodhound
Oh yeah

Shadows Creep

Written By: devlin miles,jibrail nor

Verse 1
Fast cars, slot machines
Speeding bullets, midnight trains
Smoke rings, shadows creep
Telling secrets in your sleep
Wanting badly
Nothing is as it seems
Chorus:
God, this could be deadly
My past finally catching up with me
Double crossed at a tragedy
No one knows the other side of me
Bridge:
I’ll keep runnin
‘Til you come and find me hurry
somethin’s comin’
footsteps right behind me hurry
I’m in trouble
No one’s gonna save me, but you
Verse 2
Cold feet, nervous speech
Hands are shaking like a leaf
Flash backs echoing
Heart’s pounding, thundering
Needing mystery
You get that side of me
Chorus:
God, this could be deadly
My past finally catching up with me
Double crossed at a tragedy
No one knows the other side of me
Bridge:
I’ll keep runnin
‘Til you come and find me hurry
somethin’s comin’
footsteps right behind me hurry
I’m in trouble
No one’s gonna save me, but you

Repeat V1 out

Poor Mr. Sunshine

Written By: Devlin Miles

Poor Mr. Sunshine
Ain’t no one heard your cries
The fire on the inside
Has slowly died out
You disappeared when I needed you
Withheld your warmth I’d accustomed to
Now you’re gone and this is through Ooo-hoo
Chorus:
I thought we were happy
I knew we were fine
No more shadows to hide in
No more light in our eyes
And the darkness became us
I miss you my Sunshine
Uh-huh
Ooo-hoo
Oh yeah
V2
Poor Mr. Sunshine
I can see it in your smile
We’ve soaked up all our laugh lines
And burned our flame out
Yet everyday you rise and fall
Forget that day that had come before
And scar the skies so beautiful
Yeah Yeah
Chorus:
I thought we were happy
I knew we were fine
No more shadows to hide in
No more light in our eyes
And the darkness became us
I miss you my Sunshine Uh-huh
Ooo-hoo
Oh yeah
Bridge:
No, No, No
Y eahhh
I can see your light when I close my eyes
Still in darkness you save my life
V3
Please Mr. Sunshine
I need your smile
To gather the raindrops
And dry them all out Ooo hoo
Instrumental
Chorus 2:
I know you’ll be happy
And I will be fine
And our sun will keep shinin’
When we close our eyes
Uh-huh
Ooo-hoo
Oh yeah
