Devon Crenshaw grew up listening to a wide range of music (Kate Bush, The Smiths, Cocteau Twins, David Bowie, Marvin Gaye, Destiny's Child, Jeff Buckley, Ricky Nelson, Britney Spears) His mother was costume designer for musical theatre, and his step-father went to Berkeley, and was always playing music at home. He began writing poetry early in life, then in high school he learned to play the mandolin, bass, and guitar, and writing songs. Originally inspired by old folk and country, he began studying the billboard adopting a more contemporary pop fusion.
