“My Security” was released in April of this year. In this short time of being back in the music scene, DeVorah already is getting a buzz on Facebook and gaining national attention in the Holy Hip Hop scene. She performed at this past summer’s Rap Fest and was interviewed on their live Internet show.
Devorah is an inspirational spoken word and Hip-Hop artist with over 15 years experience of writing, making music, and performing/ministering across the East Coast. She views the art of Hip Hop as a tool to positively impact the world for Jesus Christ. Although DeVorah had opportunities to achieve mainstream secular success, she chose to use this art to inspire women and encourage young adults to be leaders.

Biography
Devorah is an Inspirational spoken word and Hip-Hop artist. Based in New York City, she has over 15 years of experience writing, making music, and performing/ministering across the East Coast. She has recorded several songs and most recently released her EP, “My Security.” She views the art of Hip Hop as a tool to positively impact the world for Jesus Christ.

At the age 15, Devorah began scripting poems and composed her first rap. This was a way of release from a broken home and rebellious childhood. One year later, she dropped out of high school to focus on developing her writing and making connections in the music industry. In the coming years, she established herself as a personality and club promoter of the South Beach, Miami Hip-Hop scene where she attended events with well-known rap artists and DJs. Her big break came when she was the opening act for a Wyclef Jean at Club Onyx. Although she sensed her career was on the rise and the opportunity to go mainstream was close, she wondered to herself, “Is this what I really want?”

Devorah became overwhelmed with a deep sense of emptiness; what she thought she wanted, wasn't any longer filling her heart and soul. On the night of her birthday, Devorah went home and cried out "God, if you are real and I have a destiny, show me!" Yet, isolation, devastation and confusion took over her life. Feeling extremely broken, alone and at rock bottom, she received a phone call from her cousin with the message of the Gospel. She quickly realized that Jesus Christ was the answer to the questions she had in her life.

This message of redemption inspired Devorah to start a new life. She relocated to New York and abandoned the world of Hip-Hop. Devorah quickly became involved in the church community throughout New York City and became a youth mentor for several years. With the encouragement of her husband, Kene Turner, Devorah decided to return to school and is currently pursuing a degree in Communications. She is presently married with three children and resides in Staten Island, NY.

Devorah is ready to share her talent to the world again, but now she wants to use the wisdom gained from her past pain to uplift women and lead young adults to the right path. Devorah has realized that her passion is to produce music that utilizes creative outlets to connect with people who are seeking and yearning for something more in life.
