Bio
Devout is an electronic dance/worship group whose soul mission is to inspire believers to glorify their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with all of their heart, mind and spirit. Through thumping beats, swirling keyboards and sing along melodies, Devout delivers a relevant, Christ-centered message that will cause listeners to dance and sing to their Creator.
Devout actually began before birth. Two of the founding members' (Brett Eberhard and Matt Lingo) mothers met by doing door to door evangelism. As the two grew up in their hometown church, they realized they had a shared interest in the same musical styles. John Witty, a classically trained musician with a bent for electronic composition, was added to the group after he and Matt spent time volunteering together in Christian youth camps in Bosnia.
From the start, Devout has been drawn to the infectious grooves and anthemic melodies of bands like U2, Depeche Mode, and Tears for Fears and has sought to utilize the power of music to worship Jesus Christ.
Psalm 98 says it best, "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise!" This is Devout's soul desire: to bring believers to a passionate worship experience and draw non-believers towards a belief in the salvation that only Jesus Christ can offer.
