"Dexter's Kin"

These guys have a very clean sound to them. They don't do anything too complicated or crazy, but overall the sound is clean dnd well refined. Just because things tend to be simple, doesn't mean Dexter's Kin doesn't know what they're doing. The sound tends to revolve around the singer with the guitars backing what he does, but occasionally they take a co-starring role and it even sounds like the guitar is over top the vocals. Rarely is there a sound I don't like with these guys. The singer's voice is very good. The guitarist is strong and doesn't miss a cue. The drummer is in there for good measure and keeps things together. There's not much more to say othre than PLAY THIS CD!!! These guys are one of the better alt bands I've reviewed this semester and they deserve a chance just as much as any other band to really let their musical abilities expand on the big stage - Scott Angus, KAMP Radio

"A hit song can hide where you least expect it. In this case I found one in New York native Paul’s solo project Dexter’s Kin, on a website for unsigned music and I fell head over heels by his song ‘Stay’." - Pelle Moeld, P3 LAB

Bio

Dexter’s Kin, the New York City-based Alternative/Pop/Rock band formed by lead singer and songwriter Paul Benedict, touts an undeniable connection between its music and fans. The band, named after Paul’s late brother, honors his memory through its inspiring lyrics and captivating melodies. Its songs hold listeners rapt with its blend of edgy pop tunes, high energy beats, and heartfelt ballads. Paul’s soulful voice brims with honesty, inviting listeners to follow him on his journey.

Paul reflects, “Every song I’ve written has been related to my experiences with family. My brother’s death made such an impact in my life. One way or another he’s influenced my music. It’s the core of who I am saying that I’m Dexter’s Kin.”

The band recently released it’s highly-anticipated self-titled album in the fall of 2011 and was accompanied by the release of the music video for the first single on the album, “Spill Out The Lies,” which has earned well over 100,000 hits on YouTube. Unlike Paul’s solo release of the EP Metamorphose in 2009, the self-titled LP marks the culmination of the band’s permanent lineup.

Dexter’s Kin plans to perform live in the tri-state New York area before expanding to neighboring regions. The band also seeks to build long lasting relationships with other indie bands who share the same drive and ambition to deliver engaging and compelling shows. Fans can follow Dexter’s Kin through its website and multiple social media outlets.

Dexter’s Kin completed its present ensemble of band members in early 2012. In addition to lead vocalist Paul Benedict, band members include Bryan Christopher (guitar), Harrison Wade (keyboards), Andrew Lynch (bass), and Asaf Nisim (drums/percussion). The group has already released several dynamic videos that highlight its energetic music, spirited personality, and star-quality image. The new self-titled album, coupled with the band’s live show, mirrors the dedicated collaboration of the artists who form Dexter’s Kin. The connectedness between them reveals itself through its impactful music.

“Biologically, Dexter is my brother,” Paul goes on to say. “But without these four talented and supportive musicians, who I also call brothers, this project wouldn’t have come to light. They are my family; we are Dexter’s Kin.”
