"Old school melody: old school sentiment; new school style"

May 7, 2006
A wonderfully strong old school type debut from rootsman Deyansa. Organic instrumentation including flute and harmonica on stellar, mainly, all original roots and lovers rhythms while the man proclaims in his melodic rough tenor: "now i'm free from oppression/ i rejoice in the light of redemption." even when Deyansa's down: "woman, you tripped me and i'm falling/ now i'm bruised up with all your love." he's still upbeat.
a modern, positive message album, reminiscent in tone and sentiment of some of Bunny Wailer and I Jahman Levi's stuff: of the scene but apart from it.
the best roots album of 2005? easily the best debut. - Lloyd A. White (london United Kingdom)

Bio

Deyansa breaks onto the scene with a CD of inner strength and fortitude

Deyansa was born Wayne Fearon in May Pen, Clarendon, Jamaica and while he was always singing and writing songs it wasn't till 12 years ago that he got serious and started to write down his lyrics and working out the songs on his acoustic guitar.

Deyansa hooked up with fellow Jamaicans, Keith Senior and Jonathan Ford. The band toured with such reggae dignitaries as Culture, Meditations, Augustus Pablo, Cutty Ranks, and even Gregory Isaacs! Giving their able support on tours that took them throughout the Caribbean, Europe and Asia.

Keith Senior and Jonathan Ford had been session musicians for Coxsone Dodd, Lee "The Upsetter" Perry, and Ms. Pottinger performing on many hit songs. They also worked on such great projects as "The Black Ark Dub" and "The Upsetters" albums
