Dezi Leon, through the transparency of her music with lines like, "Bullets off the tip of my tongue are very lethal," has shared with the rest of us, a story, a sound, and a message that is unique to her experience but relatable to so many. Her mouth is her weapon. The words that draw on our heartbreaks and our come ups are her weapon. Her weapon, and our shield. Her music, her voice, her words, her fight.  Dezi Leon takes pride in a life that challenged her, having lost her mother to domestic violence and her father to a lifetime of incarceration. She produces that gratefulness in her music and in her community service. She learned to sympathize with her community, stand up for her community, and learn from her community. In fact, Dezi has been so committed to giving more than music to her community that she obtained a Bachelor's degree in Urban Studies from Connecticut College to equip herself with the knowledge and the resources to improve conditions. Juggling life as a young adolescent in the inner city and accepting the blessings of wisdom from Teachers and peers along the way inspired her development into the untraditional artist we know and see today. An artist that can inspire you, and be inspired by you. That kind of impact is the lethal bullet kind.
