By combining dance rhythms with the soulfulness of an experienced heart, Dezi Leon has married genres with her latest project titled ‘The Room I Stand In’. Catchy hooks within a dance track are becoming borderline cliche as artists blindly follow the trends but I don’t hear that in Dezi’s music. I hear a hyper-hook tinged melding of soul, hip-hop, pop, and even a little rock fused with the root dance beat done in such a way as to keep any listener interested realizing that each note is thought out yet improvisationally set. - Jammerzine

Reminiscent of 90s hip hop, Dezi Leon has been creating music since she was 7 years old in Boston’s historic neighborhood of Roxbury. Initially a poet, Dezi only became interested in Hip Hop after her brother introduced her to the iconic group, The Fugees, and started having her memorize Lauryn Hill’s verses. From there, Dezi began to develop her own lyrical style eventually transitioning into engineering and production so that she could create her own sound from scratch.
While still fitting in with new age artists like H.E.R. and SZA, Dezi has done just that with her current body of work with the release of “The Room I Stand In (parts 1 and 2)” entirely written and produced by the artist herself! Fans should stay on the lookout for the next release, “Hell To Pay” Coming Soon!!

The fun, flirty and energetic dance clips taken from our Urban Outtakes collection matches with her feisty lyrics and strong track. Text overlays highlight the track and artist name—important for helping first-time viewers find you again later. And while we usually see our Long Cuts video editing style used on slower tracks to play the entire clip before it transitions, we really like how Dezi used it here to get the full impact of the dance footage.
