"Taxi Doll frontwoman Dhana & her forthcoming debut EP "Confessions of Lily Rogue""

OCTOBER 8, 2010 - DHANA TAPROGGE picked an interesting time to adapt a musical alter-ego. The TAXI DOLL front woman is testing the waters of a solo career with the release of her forthcoming debut EP 'CONFESSIONS OF LILY ROGUE' (due on November 11, 2011). Given her band's penchant for issuing the most mesmerizing dance rock this side of DEBORAH HARRY, fans may be expecting 'LOVE ANGEL MUSIC BABY' times twelve but those fans are going to have to turn their pacemakers down just a notch. Instead, '...LILY ROGUE' is an excercise in lyrical reflection and dark introspection which isnt to say that DHANA has done away with that "...Here kittie, kittie!" delivery that made TAXI DOLL such a hoot. - Rockwired Magazine

"Music Review: Dhana - Confessions of Lily Rogue EP"

More than a year ago, I reviewed Taxi Doll's album, Here and Now, and loved it. I've always had a soft spot for electro-synth pop and Taxi Doll scratched that itch beautifully. Now lead singer Dhana Taprogge has released a new EP of solo material called Confessions of Lily Rogue.

Deeper than Here and Now, Confessions offers a slower, more reflective approach to the music and lyrics. In this slower, solo context, Dhana's voice provides a textured, emotive counterpoint to the contagious dance beats of her work with Taxi Doll. Don't let that statement fool you into thinking there's no bite here, however. These songs deal with the fact that relationships aren't always wine and roses.

"Q & A Time with Electro pop glam doll Dhana?"

Ladies and gentlemen do I have a treat for you!! I had the privilege of doing an interview with an amazing new artist who goes by the name of Dhana. Her first album titled Confessions of Lily Rogue will be out on the 11th of November and it is a MUST HAVE. Dhana is making her way to the top of the pop charts one step at a time. Get to know Dhana a little better and check out her photos and music after the jump! - The Fab Femme

"SXSW Sings The Praises Of LA Bands"

"LA-based band Taxi Doll is described as a Rocktronica outfit, but I would prefer to think of their vibe as 'When Blondie me Kylie.' Lead singer, sex bomb, and all around pro, Dhana is a mesmerizing, live action, dancing queen with a pretty, crisp voice and an enchanting accent that's one part German, one part Spanish, one part UK, and twenty two parts fairy dust. She and her band of brothers (they're not really brothers) are grade-A musicians who make shiny music with a fully DIY ethic." - Los Angeles Daily News

"Introducing..."

"We predict in Taxi Doll that we could be looking at the 21st Century's answer to Blondie. Part German/part Spanish singer Dhana Taprogge looks born to be a pop-star. She certainly bears a striking figure combining a 40's style Hollywood starlet look with contemporary glamour." -Electronically Yours - Electronically Yours

DHANA, DYNAMIC FRONTWOMAN OF ELECTRONIC/POP ROCK HITMAKERS, TAXI DOLL, RELEASES HER FIRST SOLO EP, "CONFESSIONS OF LILY ROGUE."

Dhana Taprogge, Taxi Doll’s leading lady, steps out on her own to create a darker, more reflective and emotional work for her solo EP "Confessions of Lily Rogue."

Taxi Doll has been described as the 21st Century Blondie. The L.A. Daily News describe Dhana as "a sex-bomb and all around pro who is a mesmerizing, live action, dancing queen with a pretty, crisp voice and an enchanting accent that's one part German, one part Spanish, one part UK, and twenty-two parts fairy dust."

Wanting to explore her artistic identity outside the band, she has collaborated with diverse producers, including Carmen Rizzo, Supreme Beings of Leisure's Ramin Sakurai, and Mark Governor, creator of "Notes from the Edge," the string section featured on the EP. In order to occupy a different creative space and discover music from a new perspective, Dhana manifested, an alter ego, Lily Rogue.

The EP's title, "Confessions of Lily Rogue," gives a nod to this process. In it, Dhana explores the broken pieces that make up the kaleidoscope of "who we are". She adds, "It is in light and dark pieces through which we are reflected. Often our pain and frailty is the source of our greatest strength; I wanted to write about that duality through Lily Rogue." It is this very idea that was the creative and visual inspiration for the video for "Not Enough," the lead off track on the EP.

European-born and raised, Dhana is multilingual (English, German, Spanish, and French). She has headlined numerous shows around the country and has shared the stage with acts such as Katy Perry, The Prodigy, Shiny Toy Guns, Boomkat, Berlin, and Bitter Sweet. Taxi Doll, the band of which Dhana is a founding member had a hit song with "Waiting," which reached #3 on the Billboard Dance Airplay Chart, and #1 on the Music Week Charts in the UK. It was followed by another top #10 hit, "Be With You." Dhana’s voice and songs have been heard in numerous films and TV shows including "Firewall,” "John Tucker Must Die," "The Hills," "90210," "The Good Wife" and "CSI” as well as commercials, both national and international.
