Bio
Antonio Andrews, aka Dial Tone, is an American rapper from
Tulsa, Oklahomas North side. His interest in (rap) music began in middle
school after seeing his friends older brothers CD collection, while a Queens
(New York) native inspired him as an artist.
Nas,
If I Ruled the World, video made me want to write my first rap. I started
rapping in middle school, like 7th grade, after I figured basketball wasn't
going to work out for me. My favorite artist of all time is Nas. I loved that
he never let the (rap) game dictate or influence his style. . .
Notebooks
became rhyme books, the allure basketball glory faded, fast-forward to 2011
where Tone, who has always been
passionate about the art, makes the decision to take rap serious. Through a
collective of close friends, DAir District, he begins to release music and
perform around Tulsa. 2012 was a foundational year, as it was a year of focus
and dedication as he sought to make his presence known.
His hard work paid off, for in 2013, he accompanied Tulsa native and hometown
hero, Johnny Polygon, on the Light up
the Night tour with PAC DIV. He
released an EP entitled The EAT,
featuring Johnny Polygon, and dropped
the single Trampoline with Compton emcee, Problem.
In 2014, Tone looks to set the tone (no pun intended) with the release of LivefromUtica, a (10) track project
capturing his artistry and Tulsa life.
As one listens to this hungry artist, we have no choice but to shift focus and pay attention to whats coming out of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
