"Diamante – A Teen Sensation With Staying Power"

Diamante is an west coast transplant, originally from the eastern side of the US, who’s being called something of a teen sensation in Hollywood, CA, lately. She’s had lead rolls in theatrical performances and is currently putting most of her energy into making music. Playing in famous Hollywood clubs, such as, The Whiskey-a-Go-Go, The Roxy, and The Knitting Factory, one could understand why she might be getting a lot of attention. After having two of her latest singles sent to me, I decided to find out what all the fuss was about.

The two tracks I reviewed are recently released. The first, “Impossible”, has already received quite a bit of airplay on national radio stations. Before I really knew anything about Diamante, like her age, it was obvious to me that this song would really appeal to those between the ages of 9-15, especially the girls. Diamante released a music video with the song, where she’s all decked out with hot pink streaks in her hair and lots of leather and rock and roll swag being worn. Very much, reminded me of the Avril Lavigne of years ago, which was when I actually liked Avril.

Having analyzed many vocal styles throughout my career and life, I believe that Diamante’s vocals are close to pristine, for the genre of pop-punk that some of her music seems to lean toward. That being said, I was viewing her website and came across a cover of Stevie Nick’s “Edge of Seventeen”. Anyone that knows me, knows I love Stevie Nick’s music. I gave Diamante’s version a spin and was quite pleased with what I heard. At first, I wasn’t sure if the song would take off, but the chorus kicked in, along with the energy, making it a really cool listening experience. While Diamante is still quite young and her vocal chords are still maturing, I do believe she has what it takes to sing various genres of music.

The last song I reviewed was called “Panic”, which is available on iTunes, in time for her appearance at the Indie Music Fest in Las Vegas, taking place today. With “Impossible” having been nominated song of the year by the 2012 LA Music Awards, and the four wins she scored at the 2012 Indie Music Channel Awards (Best Young Rock Artist, Best Rock Recording, Best Music Video, and Teen Artist of the Year), “Panic” proves that Diamante is ready for more.

"Diamante is an awesome singer whose voice will grab your eardrums and pick at your"

Diamante is an awesome singer whose voice will grab your eardrums and pick at your
musical heartstrings like a Fender guitar. The teenage pop-rock songstress is taking
over Top 40 radio stations everywhere with her new hit single, IMPOSSIBLE.

Impossible is a great song that showcases Diamante's talent and marketability. I've heard
scores of female pop-rock artists over the past few months and this young lady sings just
as good, if not better in many cases, than the best of them. The music production is very
comparable to that of artists like Kesha and Katy Perry, and makes for the perfect
backing track to Diamante's amazing young voice.

Currently playing on numerous terrestrial radio stations, Impossible is a perfect example
of why some artists excel when others don't. Diamante's team have not only put together
a hot single for the young singer, they've also gained coveted radio spins at a time when
unsigned artists are struggling to just scratch the surface of the mainstream market.

Impossible is buzzing so well that the song recently grabbed the #1 spot on The Radio
Cafe Music Countdown, and has earned Diamante the All Indie Music Awards "Artist of
the Year" nomination. I'd recommend anyone looking for a hot new song with awesome
melodies, music and vocals to check out Diamante's new hit -- "IMPOSSIBLE" - IAE Magazine

"Artist Alert: DIAMANTE"

Are you ready for the next solo artist to take the world by storm? At only 15, Diamante already has been in the Top 10 for the Tween Pop Radio charts and she’s only just beginning.

She’s already had comparisons drawn to Pat Benitar and Alanis Morissette. When we asked about them, Diamante told us “it is such an honor to be compared to the biggest idols. Even though I’m only 15, I grew up listening to Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, Setvie Nicks, Lita Ford, they continue to be my all-time favorite artists.” The young artist describes her music as having “a pop beat, but it’s also got rock instruments and rough vocals that add this edginess.”

Want to hear the brand-new and unique sound of Diamante? Check out her video for “Impossible” below, and if you want more, she told us that “will be announcing Spring/Summer2012 tour dates soon, including some of the biggest music festivals. In early April, I will be releasing my new single “PANIC” and will be shooting the music video for it.” Another single? Sounds like an album might be on its way.

"Teen Sensation DIAMANTE's Influences Included Kelly Clarkson and Avril Lavigne"

A young musician well past her years is 15-year-old Diamante. Her combination of pop/dance/rock and incredible vocals have already made headway in the music industry. Diamante recently stopped by to talk about her music, new single “Impossible,” and her cover of Stevie Nicks’ “Edge of Seventeen.”

Q – Thank you, Diamante, for talking to me.

A - Hey, glad to be here! Thanks for having me!

Q – You’re sort of making a name for yourself on the independent music scene. What’s amazing about you is that you’re a 15-year-old singer/songwriter with an adult voice. What is your musical background?

A - I’ve always loved to sing because music has always been there for me. When everyone was playing with dolls, I was spending countless hours in my room listening to all my favorite CD’s and performing in from of the mirror. Then when I turned 10, I landed the lead in my first musical at school. I was ecstatic! That’s when I knew performing was my thing. A couple of years later we packed our bags and flew to LA. I did a ton of musical theatre for the first year. Then, I recorded my first song in 2010, and released the EP in summer 2011. Now I’m here having just released “Impossible” and I am so grateful for the amazing response the song has gotten from press, radio stations and fans!

Q – I’ve heard a few of your songs and the music kind of reminds me of a poppier Evanescence. However, your voice has a pop/rock/country combination to it. How would you describe your sound?

A - That’s probably because I love all genres, but especially rock! My sound is a mix of both rock and pop. I’d say it’s very edgy with the angst and force of rock, but my new single has some really fresh pop sounds that anyone can move to.

Q – With the musical landscape consisting of pop stars like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Christina Aguilera, how do you go about separating yourself from the norm?

A - The funny thing is I’ve always felt different, in fact I don’t think I’ve ever been the norm. I guess I made my mark by sticking to my sound and who I am. Every great artist has their own individual flair; it’s what makes them so brilliant. There aren’t many female rock artists out there, and it’s really fun to jump off a stage, yell into the mic, and go crazy with the band.

Q – Who are/were your influences musically growing up?

A - I loved listening to Kelly Clarkson and Avril Lavigne. I would sing all the songs off of Kelly’s “Breakaway” album and every time an Avril song came on, I went crazy! On the other hand, Stevie Nicks, Joan Jett, Pat Benatar, Patti Smith were always playing on weekend kickbacks at our place.

Q – You do a remake of Stevie Nicks’ “Edge of Seventeen.” Why did you decide to cover this song?

A - When I first heard the song, I didn’t understand it, and it intrigued me. The lyrics and mystery pulled me in. Its style also reminded me a little of my own, and every time I perform it for a crowd, I have the best time watching all the adults suddenly stop what they’re doing and look up and get all pumped up.

Q – Are there plans for a full-length album?

A - Yes, for sure! I’ve already been busy writing new songs and I’ll be hitting the studio again to record some new tracks.

Q – Thanks again for taking the time. Is there anything you wanted to add?

A - Thank you for having me! You can stay tuned for new songs and get ready for the music video for “Impossible” coming soon!

"Impossible by Diamante (Pop Rock Music Video)"

By the age of 15, LA-based singer-songwriter Diamante has already taken the rock-pop world by storm. With a sound like a cross between ‘80s star Pat Benatar and ‘90s angst queen Alanis Morissette, a style that looks like Taylor Swift gone punk, and an attitude that suggests an age beyond her years, Diamante has carved out a niche for herself separate from teen pop stars everywhere. Her background in musical theater performances, strong family support, and genuine love for the stage contributed to her rocking live tours in 2010 and 2011. Diamante released her hit single “Impossible” after returning from her national tour The Age of Rebellion. But music isn’t her only talent - She has also landed numerous major lead roles in popular theatrical shows such as; “Sandy” in Grease, “Rosie” in Bye Bye Birdie, “Ariel” in the Disney remake A Day of Magic, “Vicky” in Free to Be You and Me, and a breakthrough performance of the "Genie" in Aladdin. Check out her edgy anthems and our interview with her below!

"J-14 Hot Music Alert: DIAMANTE"

-14 is scouting out the hottest music around and this week's pick is... Diamante!

Here are the 5 things you need to know about Diamante who's gearing up to hit the road this year and release an EP this summer!

1. At just 15 years old, Diamante is sure of the life she's planned out for herself -- one surrounded by music. "When everyone was playing with dolls, I was spending countless hours in my room listening to all my favorite CDs and performing in front of the mirror," she tells J-14. After scoring the role of Sandy in the musical Grease, she knew that being a performer was her only option. A couple of years later, she packed her bags, relocated to LA, recorded her first song in 2010, and released her first EP last summer.

2. Unlike many performers who deal with nerves, Diamante feels most comfortable on stage in front of a crowd. "It's strange, but when I'm on stage, I feel most comfortable, like I belong there," Diamante says. "I love having the power to be anything I want and not have to feel the pressure to fit in or be perfect. I get this amazing feeling of sureness I can't find anywhere else."

3. This pop-rocker is inspired by a variety of artists for different reasons. "Adele's lyrics inspire me. She has the talent to express heartbreak, falling in love, and pain better and deeper than anyone else," She tells J-14. "Avril Lavigne and Taylor Momsen are definitely influences in my look, I love how they're so rebellious and honest." As for her voice? She draws influence from classic female rockers like Joan Jett.

4. Diamante participated in the nationwide No Bully Tour where a group of artists traveled from New York to Florida to share their voices and fight for the cause. She even has her own anti-bullying song called "Age of Rebellion". "I am grateful to all the people that have joined this cause and have helped in so many wonderful ways. But I personally wanted to do something from a different point of view. I wanted to step into the bullied kid shoes and help from there." She says. "'Age of Rebellion' is a magical battle where I am one of the bullied kids. We march together to stand up the fight and suddenly become beautifully empowered. It is message of hope and reclaiming strength."

5. Her latest single "Impossible" is a song that nearly every girl can relate to -- falling for the bad boy. "'Impossible' is the 'innocent girl falls for the bad boy' story, and it is written out of personal experience," She says. "I hope I can save people from making the same mistake of loving someone who is completely unhealthy for them. Girls tend to go for the bad boy, or the typical player, and I hope they can realize they deserve much better than that."
