Diamond Lane Band

Diamond Lane Band

BandJazzFolk

We are long time friends and musicians that have recorded and performed Steve Sheltons original music. We have sax, mandoline, jambe, drums guitar bass and excellent harmonies.

Biography

Steve Shelton has been writing music for 30 years and we have been polishing it up. Now is the time for the Diamond Lane Band to get it out to the world. Some of the music is life stories and some is just a lot of fun. Steve and Rick Smit started the Duo From the DOCS in Kitchener Ontario in 1988 and we played for two years. Rick was replaced by Tony Hall after two years. Steve and Tony played in the Kitchener/Waterloo/Guelph area for 10 more years as the Duo From the DOCS. Steve wanted a bigger sound so we Rick and Greg Hayes joined in. When we added Dale Bonnett's sax to the band it took the music to a new level. Making the sound Jazzier and so the compositions took on a jazz feel as well though songs like Bear, Spencer Smith Park and Moneys Worth didn't change from the folkie/rock sound that they were meant to have. We have always entertained whether it is at a club or at the park people love our tunes.

Lyrics

Valentine

Written By: Stephen Shelton

You are like the sunshine,
Like the breaking of the day.
And when I see you, you chase my bad dreams
Away.
And every time that you hold me,
hearing what you will say,
It will be ok.

I know I’ll find the answer,
In your eyes so pure and clear.
I only have to look once,
To know that your sincere,
And when you say that you love me,
you put away all my fears,
I love you dear.

When we are one,
you are the sun,
life is so sweet,
I am the night you are the day,
We are complete.

We were tossed together,
Like the rolling of the dice.
Our paths were fated to have crossed
by some spiritual device.
And when we got together
everything has become twice, twice as nice.

When we are one,
you are the sun,
life is so sweet,
I am the night you are the day,
We are complete.

I know I’ll find the answer,
In your eyes so pure and clear.
I only have to look once,
To know that your sincere,
And when you say that you love me,
you put away all my fears,
I love you dear.

Be my valentine ( I love you dear)
Be my valentine (I love you dear)
I’ll find the answer

I see you in the morning
cast my glance a far
I long to be near you and wish upon a star
My answer lies here but it make no sense
Why you became you and I indifference

But its so hard, hard to be on your own

I wrote you a song once inside I placed my heart
All about what I could be chained within my art
you said I was a fool, I looked at you an cried,
my heart was broken the die was cast you took away my pride

But its so hard, hard to be on your own

I know its not easy I know its not right
If life was easy it wouldn’t be life

I sit and look outside cast my glance afar
My faith is gone the time has come to become secular
I’ll find away to be hole when you re not around
you will be come you and I Ezra Pound

I know its not easy I know its not right
If life was easy it wouldn’t be life

It ought to be illegal fo ran artis to marry... If the artist must marry let him find someone more interested in art or the artist part of hm, than in him , After which let them take tea together three times a week.
