Lyrics

Come and Get Me

Written By: Diana Collins

Come and get me now I'll pack it up and go
Come and take me down that winding mountain road
And plant me in a cabin on the north side of that hill
where morning sun is plentiful and I can get my fill
Where eagle fly and coyotes lie awaiting for the kill
Where rivers race and rabbits chase never to be still

And I will stay with you my forever friend
And I will stay with you
And I will stay with you my forever friend
And I will stay with you
With you

Let me slumber in a meadow by a spring
Let me wander in a forest cool and green
You can rock me in the stillness of a silent winter's night
And warm me by the comfort of a burning fire light
Turn the lantern down a taste and shut the windows tight
Then turn to me and tell me everything will be all right

And I will stay with you my forever friend
And I will stay with you
And I will stay with you my forever friend
And I will stay with you
With you

Let me take you where the river meets the stream
Let me hold you when the thunder screams
You can leave me in the garden where the rocky soil is deep
Pick the wild flowers there and lay them at my feet
Give me but some common ground where I may ever sleep
And remember me forever as the one who let you be

And I will stay with you my forvever friend
And I will stay with you
And I will stay with you my forever friend
And I will stay with you
With you

He Loved Irene

Written By: Diana Collins

He loved Irene
A small town boy in love with the home comin' queen
fell down upon a bended knee
and begged Irene won't you please marry me
He loved Irene

He loved Irene
But he could not make her happy it seemed
He started workin' overtime
to satisfy her greedy mind
A love so blind
He loved Irene
But a beautiful woman's temptation to them who would not be deterred by a ring
Jim came home early on e night
to the heart breakin' sight
of another man in bed with Irene
He loved irene
And in his mind he replayed the awful scene
He drove around all the night
drinkin' hard, gettin' tight and feelin' mean
'cause he loved Irene

Jim waited until the early hours of dawn and crept into the room of sleepin' Irene
Where he choked out the life of his unfaithful wife
All the while through his teardrops he screamed
He loved Irene
Her pretty face never again to be seen
He yelled out as her body fell down that old abandonded well
Burn in hell
Goodbye Irene
He loved Irene

Time Is A Taker

Written By: Diana Collins

In the space of a second
In the time of a blink
The damage is deadly
In the anger you think
And if it's behind you
It forever will be
Like a drop in the ocean
Of a bottomless sea

And time is a taker
Movin' slow, movin' fast
And it holds the illusion
Of present, future and past
And time is a taker
It doesn't care what you've missed
And time is a faker
It doesn't really exist

In the space of a lifetime
In the hours of the day
In the change of the seasons
We percieve it this way
With the birth of a baby
With the change of events
With ponder and worry
Was it well enough spent

And time is a taker
Movin' slow, movin' fast
And it holds the illusion
Of present, future and past
And time is a taker
It doesn't care what you've missed
And time is a faker
It doesn't really exist

Let It Roll

Written By: Diana Collins

For a long, long while I've been out of style
my image old and worn
So I fixed my gaze on that purple haze
seeking shelter from the storm
Now the bitch is back to ride that track
untill I wear it out again
And they toss me back to the used up rack
of life's recycling bin

In the image of Woodstock
In the image of rock and roll
In the name of all we had
Oh, let it roll

For way too long I've been holding on
runnin' down my dreams
Through the golden years I tracked my tears
but now I let it be
It's a worn out motto, the desperado
who would love to change the world
And the long gone martyr who is none the smarter
replaced the cinnamon girl

In the image of love and peace
In the cycle of life
In the name of all we've seen
Oh, let it slide

For a new direction you find reflection
in your whiter shade of pale
In the great wide open everybody's hopin' we can teach the children well
It's a crazy deal when you ride that wheel
around in the circle game
In the institution of revolution
the song remains the same

In the image dad and mom
In the cycle of time
In the name of all that's gone
Oh, let it ride

An Old Cowboy

Written By: Diana Collins

An old Cowboy went out ridin' into the valley
through the long and lonesome trail of no more tears
And though the tracks he left behind can't be followed
many watched him ride away and disappear

An old Cowboy of the plains
took his final ride today
into the sunset of that wide, wide open space
And I hope that he can finally find forgiveness
and some peace with in his final resting place
within Cowboy heaven's loving grace

Up ahead there lies a cabin filled with others
loved ones lost and children gone ahead
He shall lay his head upon his mother's shoulder
and lay his bones across his one true lover's bed

An old Cowboy of the plains took his final ride today
into the sunset of that wide, wide open space
And I hope that he can finally find forgiveness
and some peace with in his final resting place
within Cowboy heaven's loving grace

Now the colors of the sunset have gone somber
And the lonely cries of wanderin' souls are still
For the path beyond that grave lies over yonder
And the empty hearts of longing have been filled

An old cowboy of the plains took his final ride today
into the sunset of that wide, wide open space
And I hope that he can finally find forgiveness
and some peace with in his final resting place
within Cowboy heaven's loving grace
And in Cowboy heaven ever stay

Amber Roses

Written By: Diana Collins

Amber were the roses you gave to me in early spring
And love was the answer you gave me for the simple things
Warm were your kisses on a winters night, your golden hair it blew like autunm leaves
And gentle was your touch through the bitter times
and closeness was the bond you weaved

(chorus)
They say that true love never dies
Well I hope they're wrong 'cause it's killin' me inside
I keep on waitin' for the pain to subside but it goes on, and on, and on
Baby give me just a little reprieve
Tell me one more lie so my heart can believe
Say you miss me and you're comin' home
and you're tired of bein' alone

Soft were your shoulders when I gave in to weariness
And silent were the moments when the words that came were meaningless
Good was the easy way you looked at me, your eyes as blue as water from a well
And precious is my book of memories
I miss you more than I can tell

(chorus)
They say that true love...

Empty is the morning since winter snow took you from here
And cruel are the evenings, silently waitin' for my tears
Strong is the pain deep down inside of me, I couldn't love you more if you were here
And when the wind whistles through the trees
I hear you whisper in my ear

(chorus)
They say that true love....

When The Hard Wind Blows/ A song about the Oklahoma dustbowl

Written By: Diana Collins

She was a young girl in her teens on an Oklahoma farm
and she never dreamt this land she loved could do her any harm
Come harvest time thy picked the cotton 'till their fingers bled
but still thanked the lord for all they had, the children all were fed

But they watched their dreams all turn to dust when the wind replaced the rain
when the bank went broke and stole their trust, the year the dustbowl came
And her daddy hung his head and cried into his tired hands
tears on the wind for a long-lost friend, that damned old useless land

(chorus)
And there's sorrow even when were glad
and good times even in the bad
And the days kept right on comin' though
they'd lost all that they had
Those hard times come and hard times go
Life can be cruel but even so
your heart can take a beatin' though, you're bendin'
like the wind

When the dust became so thick outside that you could not take a breath
and the food so scarce the children cried and nearly starved to death
they packed up all that they had left and headed off to western fields
to the alifornia promised land where golden dreams came real

(chorus)
And there's sorrow even when we're glad...

But they found themselves in foreign land where Okie's was their names
And they found themselves in labor camps and hung their heads in shame
Time slowly passed until at last they earned themselves a home With pennies saved from pickin' fruit the golden dream was grown

(chorus)
And there's sorrow even when we're glad...

When the hard wind blows and the hard-pan flies
she walks across the dusty miles
of a field full of memories once stolen by the wind

Pull You Back Again/Amanda's Song

Written By: Diana Collins

You made not find the love you seek
No one may be there to hear you when you speak
There won't always be a friendly face to smile back at you
That's when I'll come around to see you through

And all those pretty pictures inside you mind
may not be in this solid world to find
Sometimes disappointment will over-shadow you
That's when I'll come around to see you through

(chorus)
And they'll be many in your life who'll entertain your fondest whim
But you cannot base your life on the promises of them
And as they beacon you to go out upon another limb
I'll be there to break your fall
and pull you back again

You may not want to see your fate
You'll open your eyes and it will be too late
When keeping pace becomes hard for you
That's when I'll come around to see you through
When new pretty ponies in a row
take you for a ride and let you go
When your sunset takes on a bitter hue
that's when I'll come around to see you through

(chorus)
And they'll be many in your life...

Your Magic Woman

Written By: Diana Collins

If you were mine my darling, I'd never let you go
I'd keep you in my heart and love you from my soul
And I'd make you a love potion as smooth as cherry wine
twice mixed with cupid's arrow from Aphrodite's vine
And incantations
And trails of scented petals fall
An invitation to you I would call

I want to be your magic woman, yeah
I want to be your Emperess divine
I want to make you mine mine mine mine
I want to make you mine mine mine mine
Oh, if only knew what I would do for you
You would run to me and you would love me too

If you were mine my darling I would hold you tight
under the mystic shadows of the full moonlight
And from the weeping willow's wondrous shades of green
I'd make you a sleeping pillow full of magic dreams
And inspiration
And And misty sonnets from above
And affirmations
to you my true love

I want to be your magic woman, yeah
I want be your Emperess divine
I want make you mine mine mine mine
I want make you mine mine mine mine
And if you only knew what I could do for you
then you would run to me and you would love me too

And if you were mine my darling I would sing you here
with sounds of nature's chorus soothing to your ear
And through the threads of music I'd cast an ancient spell
with words of whispering wishes tempting me to tell
And declarations
And sacred promises to impart
And adulation
To you from my heart

I want to be your magic woman, yeah
I want to be your Emperess divine
I want to make you mine mine mine mine
I want to make you mine mine mine mine
And if you only knew what I would with you
then you run to me and you would want me to

I want to be your magic woman, yeah
I want to be your magic woman, yeah

Devil After Me / A song about addiction

Written By: Diana Collins

I'm runnin' low
and there's a devil after me
I wish I could go to Mexico
and that would make me free
And I strive to keep her steady
and I try to stay the course
But there's a rider clothed in misery upon a raging horse
and he is after me
And he won't let me be

And I don't blame you
when you hide your love away from me
and you must take some time
to ease your mind
And I know that I am hard to love
and I would give most anything
if I could give you better
love of mine
Love of mine...

In the summer of my youth I found
an answer for the pain
An elixer hard as turpentine
to settle in my veins
And I feel those eyes upon me
and they taunt me in the night
as the noise of the demon horse in never ending flight
is ever haunting me
And he won't let me be

And I don't blame you
when you hide your love away from me
and you must take some time to ease your mind
And I know that I am hard to love
and I would give most anything
if I could give you better
love of mine
Love of mine...

A thousand miles of ridin' on
this dark and dusty trail
And ever followed close behind
by the keeper of my jail
And when the devil finds me
I will fall to bended knee
to be once again the willing friend and helpless enemy
of he who lives in me
And he won't let me be

And I don't blame you
when you hide your love away from me
and you must take some time to ease your mind
And I know that I am hard to love
and I would give most anything
if I could give youe better love of mine
Love of mine...

I'm runnin' low
and there's a devil after me
Wish I could go to Mexico
And that would make me free
And I strive to keep her steady
and I try to stay the course
But there's a rider clothed in misery
upon a raging horse and he is after me
And he won't let me be
And he is after me
and he won't let me be

Grandma's Magic Prayer

Written By: Diana Collins

When I was just a child I'd go grandma's house
And I came barely past her knees as I followed her about
She wore no bows or ribbons in her pinned up silver hair
But what I recall the most of all is the sound of Grandma's prayer
The sound of grandma's prayer

She'd sing as she was sweepin' "Precious Memories"
And hum as she was rockin' "Rock of Ages cleft For Me"
And Jesus lived in grandma's house, I always felt him there
But what I recall the most of all is the sound of grandma's prayer
The sound of grandma's prayer

And in a sleepy child's dream I thought I heard the angels sing
It was the magic of special prayer
The magic of grandma's precious prayer

At night before we'd go to bed we'd get down on our knees
And she would softly pray for me ever so tenderly
And grandma left some years ago to a heaven white and fair
But what I recall the most of all is the sound of grandma's prayer
The sound of grandma's prayer

And in a sleepy child's dream I thought I heard the angels sing
It was the magic of grandma's special prayer
The magic of grandma's special prayer

And He Was Born

Written By: Diana Collins

Doorways strung with mistletoe
Lights are blinking in the snow
Children snuggle beneath the folds of
the blanket mama made
Angels keep them fast asleep
Lest the little ones would weep
Pray to keep their slumber deep
With dreams of Christmas day

For the lamb of God is come
So the wise men say
And praises to the holy son
And music ring
and voices sing
to celebrate the day
For he is come
Let Jesus be his name
As he is born
On the first Christmas day

Gifts await for you and me
Underneath the Christmas tree
Holy scenes of nativity
Upon the mantle lay

People full of Christmas cheer
For tomorrow's drawing near
The sounds of carols in Thor ears
The king is cone they say

For the lamb of God is come
So the wise men say
And praises to the holy son
And music ring
And voices sing
To celebrate the day
For he is come
Let Jesus be his name
As he was born
On the first Christmas day

Silver bells on ribbons strung
Evergreen and cinnamon
Soon forgotten and undone
They'll put it all away
In the Christmas afterglow
Who'll recall that long ago
A baby dresses in swaddling clothes
Was born to light the way

For the lamb of God is come
So the wise men say
And praises to the holy son
And music ring
And voices sing to celebrate the day
And he is come
Let Jesus be his name
As he was born
On the first Chistmas day
