I've been told many times that my musical style is unique, encompassing multiple genres. A lot of my lyrics are full of “honesty and sass,” but I have gentle side I like to tap into as well. In any case, I write about what I know, and sing with as much soul as I can muster up.

Biography

Diana Rose (Murphy) is an up and coming singer/songwriter in the Twin Cities area. Diana comes from a musical family in Rockford, IL, and has been singing practically since birth. Over the past few years she has been able to "find her own voice" via songwriting, and is starting to make waves in the Twin Cities. She recently won the Women in Music Minnesota (WIMMN) Songwriting Contest for 2006, with the song "Someone's Gotta Change" (co-written by Diana Rose Murphy and Teresa Peterson). Diana will be releasing her first album "Diana Rose" in August of 2007, and hopes to be performing at more venues in and around the Twin Cities in the coming months.

Lyrics

You're Enough

Written By: Diana Rose Murphy

This is one of my favorite times,
Peekin’ in your room at night
You’re all curled up, out like a light
Got your princess PJ’s on,
Teddy bear in your right arm, and that little grin--
It tells me that you must be dreamin’

As I hold your baby sister in my arms she shuts her eyes,
My two little sleepin’ beauties, I wonder if you realize…

CHORUS:
You’re pretty enough, smart enough,
You’re just enough of everything I need
So don’t –don’t change anything…
You’re woman enough, good enough,
Brave enough to chase a wild wild dream
You’re enough, don’t change anything

Hide-n-seek and peek-a-boo,
Ain’t nothin’ I’d rather do
Gotta soak it up, while I’m able to
It’s wonderful to watch you grow,
Can’t believe I’m capable of love like this,
What’s funny is it’s effortless

I wish I had a way to shield you from the lies of this cruel world
They’re gonna try to bring you down, but listen to me girls…

You’re pretty enough, smart enough,
You’re just enough of everything I need
So don’t –don’t change anything…
You’re woman enough, good enough,
Brave enough to chase a wild wild dream
You’re enough, don’t change anything

You’re momma’s pride, you’re daddy’s joy
Before we know it you’ll be likin’ boys
And all too soon, you’ll find one to give your heart away to,
Just make sure he appreciates you, tells you every day…

You’re pretty enough, smart enough,
You’re just enough of everything I need
So don’t –don’t change anything…
You’re woman enough, good enough,
Brave enough to chase a wild wild dream
You’re enough, don’t change anything

Tired of Gettin' Rained On

Written By: Diana Rose Murphy

Woke up, filled my coffee cup
Tipped it over on the countertop
Then down my new dress
What a mess I made
That was Monday

Midweek I can’t sleep
Cause some crazy creep keeps callin’ me
Got me worked up, I’ve had enough of this
Bad luck

Oh, I’m tired of gettin rained on
I been single for way too long
Keep comin in last
Breakin my back again and again and again
Is it too much to want some sunshine?
How bout a nice and easy ride just once
I wanna be the lucky one I’m tired of gettin rained on

I roll down my window
Try to smile and say hello
Mr Officer please---Don’t ticket me
Cause I’m all out of money, but

Guess my tail light
Ain’t working for the second time
Who knew a little burnt out bulb could be such a crime?
I paid a big ole fine

Oh, I’m tired of gettin rained on
I been single for way too long Keep comin in last
Breakin my back again and again and again
Is it too much to want some sunshine?
How bout a nice and easy ride just once
I wanna be the lucky on
I’m tired of gettin rained on

Momma told me when it rains it pours
Things happen that you ain’t prepared for
Well that’d be alright except it’s raining all the time
Did I, did I mention I’m…

Oh, I’m tired of gettin rained on
I been single for way too long
Keep comin in last
Breakin my back again and again and again
Is it too much to want some sunshine?
How bout a nice and easy ride just once
I wanna be the lucky one I’m tired of gettin rained on

So Long Baby

Written By: Diana Rose Murphy

You say, “haven’t we talked about this enough already?”
Always push it aside, well
I say if you gave half as much as you’ve been getting
We would be just fine
But you’re never gonna change
So maybe I should go my own way

So long, I’ve waited so long
Gave you all the time you needed
All the space in the world to breathe in
So long, and it ain’t worth holdin’ on one more day
And all I’ve left to say,
Is so long baby
So long baby

Guess you thought I’d be stickin’ around forever
You look a bit surprised, well
Don’t you blame me for your promises that never
Seem to come to life
Cause it isn’t fair to me
I’ve been hangin’ on to what we’ll never be

So long, I’ve waited so long
Gave you all the time you needed
All the space in the world to breathe in
So long, and it ain’t worth holdin’ on one more day
And all I’ve left to say,
Is so long baby
So long baby

La- la-da-da-da-da-da
Oh can you hear my heart cryin’?
Baby leavin’ you is like dyin’
But I gotta go
I love you, but it’s been

So long, I’ve waited so long
Gave you all the time you needed
All the space in the world to breathe in
So long, and it ain’t worth holdin’ on one more day
And all I’ve left to say,
Is so long baby
So long baby
So long baby
So long baby

I Don't Feel Like It

Written By: Diana Rose Murphy

I should go to work but I don’t feel like it
I’ve got to make rent and pay my bills
But sleepin’ in right now, yea that’s more like it
Does anybody else know how this feels?
I could take a shower but I don’t feel like it
I could do my hair real nice but why?
Take me as I am yea that’s more like it
All the fuss it just ain’t worth my time

Oh, I don’t feel like doin’ what you say
I don’t feel like givin’ you your way
I spend too much time tryin’ to please
Everybody except for me
All my life I’ve let it be that way
But I don’t feel like doin’ that today
No no I don’t feel like it
I don’t feel like it

I should act my age but I don’t feel like it
Should sit up straight, be more ladylike
But doin’ what I wanna, yea that’s more like it
All I need is me to run my life

Oh, I don’t feel like doin’ what you say
I don’t feel like givin’ you your way
I spend too much time tryin’ to please
Everybody except for me
All my life I’ve let it be that way
But I don’t feel like doin’ that today
No no I don’t feel like it
I don’t feel like it

No no—no I said I don’t—feel like it
No no—no I said I don’t, I don’t I don’t

Oh, I don’t feel like doin’ what you say
I don’t feel like givin’ you your way
I spend too much time tryin’ to please
Everybody except for me
All my life I’ve let it be that way
But I don’t feel like doin’ that today
No no I don’t feel like it
I don’t feel like it
