"Canadian Music Week: Diana Salvatore"

Me and my sidekick walked into Comfort Zone, not 100 % sure as to what we were expecting. What weren't expecting but pleasantly surprised to see was a crowd of people dancing crazy to this soulful pop sound.

The size of the band was impressive saxophones, trumpets, guitars, keys, drums, backing vocals and this pretty little thing in the center of it all. Diana Salvatore's voice did not once get lost by the strength of the music.

Her sound is very UK soul pop, think Duffy meets a bit of Adele. She definitely had the talent to get the crowd going. There was not one song she did that we did not like…however there is one song that is by far our favourite…

She introduced as a song she did for all the girls who tend to give certain things away too soon. This lovely track is entitled Rub It Out. Absolutely great and this one got everyone in the audience dancing. The song is somewhat similar to Chubby Checker The Twist and The Beatles Twist and Shout however the lyrics very cleverly original and unique to Diana Salvatore.

The Sound of Pop is so lucky to have seen this amazing talent live. If any of you ever get the chance to see Diana Salvatore in concert do it. Her vocals are insane this little girl with a huge but more importantly trained voice. As well based on her chatting between songs she seems like a really down to Earth girl who doesn't take herself too seriously and knows how to have fun with the audience.

Diana Salvatore BIOGRAPHY

Intuitive as a child, Diana Salvatore always knew that she wanted to be a performer. Taking into consideration at five years old, she interupted the massy hall perormance of Cats in an attempt to perform on stage. Ten years later she officially joined the Canadian stage company that captured the start of her career.

No stranger to the small screen, with roles on the television shows Goosbumps, Due South, My Hometown, Deepwater Black, At The Hotel, Save The Last Dance (Fox Pilot); along with movies of the week The Luis Brail Story and an abc mini series Me and My Shadows; based on the life of Judy Garland.

Diana made her feature film debut in The Killing Moon at the age of 16 and was later cast alongside Jennifer Lopez and Richard Gere to play the role of Tina in the film Shall We Dance.

Often recognised for her voice that sang an alto tone beyond her years, Diana was the winner of the BMG/Uomo Music Search contest in 2001. Diana's first single 'Baby So What" was featured on the VIK/BMG artist compilation CD Planet Pop alongside musical heavyweights Destinys Child, Britney Spears and N'sync.

A diabetic since the age of 6, Diana never let anything stand in the way of her dreams and is involved in many charities. Diana recently worked alongside Canadian singer songwritter Chantel Kreviasuk at the LIV BLU charity event in Toronto and sang for the Hospital for Sick Children.

An old soul with a retro sound, Diana was always drawn to music not from her time and got the chance to perform with some of her favorites from the golden soul days when she played along side the Box Tops and opened for the Temptations at the Hershy Center, later that year she was asked to perform for Bill Clinton at the Nelson Mandela tribute.

An independent thinker with a passionate drive for success. Diana's evolving sound and look seem not from this era. She hopes to capture the magical moments of a golden time, where music came from the heart and she is well on her way.

Stay tuned...
