Diane Ellis formed the Jazzy Ladies instrumental group in August of 1989. The group consist of professional female musicians backing Diane Ellis as the soloist on the saxophone. These ladies also sing back ground to some of the music in their repetoire. Sometimes the group is named as, "Diane Ellis and the Jazzy Ladies and Gent", when a female member of the group is unavailable.
Diane Ellis and the Jazzy Ladies has performed in various spots around Chicago such as The Other Place Lounge, Rhythms On Wells, The Apartment Lounge and Rituals "Low Down" Jazz Club. The group has performed for weddings, fashion shows, banquests, dinners and for big business organizations such as The Chicago Urban League banquet dinner, The National Links annual Gala and the festival for presidents of black colloges. This all female group has performed Jazz festivals in gary, Indiana, Joliet, Illinois, and in the South Shore's "Jazz Come Home" festival in Chicago, directed by Geraldine DeHass.
