Bio

Diane writes her songs and travels and performs as her musical life. When she can perform with ubertalented Al Torre on lead guitar, his intensity and medicine music sensibility take Diane's songs to a new level of complexity as well as rockin fun! Vocalist, cajon player, and singersongwriter herself, SaraTone is a powerhouse performer from the Seattle area. Her powerful presence adds yet more earth liberation and devotion to Diane's music.

Diane writes and performs with acoustic guitar and ukulele, and she sings a powerful, liberating song.
Earth, Love and Liberation are the themes.

I started performing when I was about 22, playing bass for an excellent Delta Blues duo, then co-fronted a world beat band for a couple years in the early '90's.
The Diane Patterson Sextet ('93-'96) was actually a collective of 4 singer-songwriters and 2 percussionists, which traveled Northern California venues and festivals and sang together our beautiful songs and gorgeous harmonies, arranged by David Theno and Jan Peters.

In December 2010 I released a new CD: 'World Awake' is shimmering and stylized in its band arrangements by Peter Temple and moving and healing in its collection of songs.

Live musicians likely to show up with me are: Al Torre, medicine music lead guitarist; SaraTone, stellar vocalist and percussionist; Almasto Panar on dobro.

I've just recorded with the extraordinary Roman Morykit, producer and musician at international industry level. This recording of my song Restore Me will likely appear a coming film of Starhawk's novel The Fifth Sacred Thing. I'm dreaming of working on an electronic album. This new collection will feature my voice singing timeless, magical goddess chants by the late, internationally recognized author/musician/tarot creator/ceremonialist Shekhinah Mountainwater, over electronic beats.

I'm weaving spirit and unifying social commentary around the world, on festival stages, at folk music and conscious music gatherings, healing gatherings and in concert venues of Southern Oregon and Northern California, in Hawaii every winter for the last six years, in Europe summers of 2008, 2011, and 2013, and coming December 21-23, 2012 in Mexico for Synthesis Festival!

“Joni Mitchell meets Ani DiFranco. Patterson is a modern day folk goddess.”

"Patterson plays and collaborates with a number of artists working towards a more sustainable future, through the celebration of Abundance by Design."

Currently Patterson is on fall 2012 tour in Oregon and Northern California. Based in Northern California, Diane is currently planning her next tour to Europe, and singing her powerful song Rockupy! wherever she performs. Independent and supported by her community, Diane considers herself a micro magical munition of manifesting highest consciousness, cleanest food for body and mind, best balance and highest integrity of relations between all Peoples, Elements, Directions, Resources. For this the songs are caught, carried, sung, rocked, and recorded. She has no home or car, but gets rides, stays with friends, and puts all her resources into her basic needs and recording and printing her music.
