The instrumental project began early in 2007, with Antonio (bass), Vicente (electric guitar/ harmonica) and Tiago (drums). They simply wanted to compose, free from any convenient impositions, bringing out new points of view towards music. After a year of experimenting, two other musicians were added to the band, Gabriel (electric guitar/ keyboard/ tambourine) and Guilherme (saxophone/ flute/ clarinet/ keyboard/ percussion), and the band maintains this formation up until the present days. The quintet started making concerts in 2009, passing through different kinds of venues and audiences in Belo Horizonte and São Paulo. Dibigode is eccentric, because nothing they do is ordinary. All the group’s presentations are followed by artistic interventions, guest musicians, performances, videos and different types of interaction with the public. It always offers something beyond what’s expected. Reaching beyond their music, in February 2010 the group conceived alongside the artist Rafael Quick an event named “Quarta Sinestésica” (Synaesthetic Wednesday). They created a space that promotes expression and socializing among new artists, musicians, creators and friends of the independent scenario in Belo Horizonte, which occurred every Wednesday at Conservatorio Music Bar until the end of August 2009, in a partnership with the band A Fase Rosa. The Dibigode fans come from the most different musical casts, when it comes to taste. It is a sound that pleases all ears. Influenced by jazz and rock, the five self-taught musicians propose instrumental music that is alive and that recycles itself in each sentence. They rob the audience of all feeling and sensation, always branded by the enthralling character of the tunes and good intensity in their solos. Dibigode is decent, elegant, but at the same time flammable and fierce.
