Dick Turner

BandPop

Dick Turner constructs his songs and performances around strong emotional and musical contrasts. He leads the audience on a journey like a tour guide through landscapes of surprising variety and texture, often with a touch of humor - to reflect our complex individual emotional make-ups.

Biography

Dick Turner was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He attended Peabody Conservatory as a composition student. He composed contemporary classical music for a long time, having over sixty pieces for a variety of groups to his credit from piano solo to chamber orchestra and opera. Then, in 2005, wanting to reach audiences on a wider scale, he began to compose and perform his songs. He first started to play open mic nights around Paris, then concerts, then he began touring. In March 2009 he went from Baltimore to Colorado (where he appeared on KGNU radio, this performance is available online) then , back in France, he opened for the tour of France and Switzerland by Herman Dune.

His influences are diverse, one can clearly hear his classical training in the varied chord progressions and occasional use of non-standard harmony. In terms of other performers and composers he is a fan of Beethoven, Billie Holiday, The Beatles, and many others.

Dick lives in Paris, France.

Lyrics

I Caught You Going Through My Pockets

Written By: Dick Turner

I caught you going through my pockets
red handed at the break of dawn

you wouldn't say what you were after
nothing at all appeared to be gone

I wondered what it was you were looking for
what did you think I had hidden there?

I thought that I'd explained what is mine is yours
what did you think that you had to fear?

I caught you going through my pockets
red handed at the break of dawn

I caught you going through my pockets
and later you were trying all my keys

you said my closed rooms make you nervous
and you thought that I could use a little breeze

and you'd seen a light from beneath the door
you wanted to go in to put it out

but if you'd only tried it would have opened wide
you would have seen I never set the locks

I caught you going through my pockets
and later you were trying all my keys

I caught you going through my pockets
but what you really wanted was my mind

something in there doesn't suit you
and it was that that you'd hoped to find

but what would you have done with the thing you found
or would have you just hidden it away

try to understand the distance that you feel
but realize that somethings you can't change

I caught you going through my pockets
but what you really wanted was my mind

Discography

Some of my songs are on internet channels, put up by people who like my music. I have stumbled across these sites but never really paid much attention to them. The same is true with people who make videos of my shows, I don't know who does it, but these things exist. I have only sold cd's at my shows that I have produced myself. I have to date 6 cd collections.
These are
