Feeling a bit camera shy

Diesel Jenny is a band from Minneapolis, MN. It's as good a place as any; despite wrestling governors, statues erected to Mary Tyler Moore, and the stigma of Minnesota Nice, the boys, Mike, Dan, Caleb and Jason, fit right in. With one foot placed in the realm of pop culture, and the other firmly steeped in the classics, armed with songs ranging from the light-hearted speed rock of 'Barney The Cat' to the foot-stomping anguish of 'Dryad', the boys believe it's the songs, just as much as the sound, that makes for good music.

The songs are awash with J's distorted guitars, Mike's throbbing percussion, the bong-rattling bass work of Dan, and the sometimes haunting, sometimes elf-like flute melodies of Caleb. They do that soft-loud/loud-soft thing pretty well at times, but to describe Diesel Jenny as alternative rock would be missing the point entirely. They are 'punk' rock. They are 'alt-country' rock. They are 'primordial' rock. They are 'classic' rock. But those are just labels, and labels are just feeble attempts to classify and restrict. Diesel Jenny is not about labels. They are about rock. Playing rock 'n roll, achieving semi-infamy and dying, lighting fires and kicking tires along the way.
