What can be said about Different Worlds? Well, the name speaks for itself. They are four individuals from different backgrounds, both socially and musically, who have been joined together to make real music. Rah (from Planet 'Peace'), with his driven lyrics and sultry voice, adds flavor and vocals that will send chills straight through the bones. Joe (from Planet 'Soul') will paint a picture of truth and enlightment with his conscious lyrics and melancholy voice. DreTL (from Planet 'Real'), like Mos Def, Kanye West, and Nas, provides spoken word amazement that only can be describe as authentic truth. Last, but definitely not least, is Eesh (from Planet 'Flow') who adds a woman's touch with her silky voice which is deeply rooted in jazz and blues.
With the help of G*E*M, one of Houston's most respected spoken word artist, their Latest project, C.L.E.V.A. (Coalition of Local Entertainment, Vendors, and Artists) Nights, open up a wide variety of entertainment. Held in Club Lashawn's which is one of the most respected black owned night clubs in Houston, accepts the responsibility to bring black music, art, and poetry back to it's respective community.
To sum it all up, it can be said that Different Worlds, a fusion of Neo Soul, R&B, and Hip Hop (Neo Rhythmic Hip Hop Blues from the Soul to be precise), has obtained the torch from the past greats like Marvin Gaye, Earth Wind and Fire, and Aretha Franklin to join today's artists like Erykah Badu, Mint Condition, and Jill Scott in the movement to provide 'Real Music.
