Exclusive Interview

Tell us about where you are from and how you got to this position today?
I am from the east side of Detroit to be exact, there’s a lot of artist with a story but I want to tell it from all stand points. I’ve been into music all my life, it just got more serious after high school. Up to this day I see the effect and impact that I’m making and the following is growing.

Tell us more about the current song you are promoting to everyone.
“I Got Next” is actually the 1st official single that I’m pushing off my upcoming mixtape “TSA(Ten Steps Ahead) coming late summer, we’re working on getting airplay sometime by the summer. It’s really to let these industry people & everyone know that I really have next, you can’t tell me no! Honestly this is 1 of my most industry friendly songs as far as catchy hooks, catchy metaphors, and the type of beat it is. I’m never the one to put inside of the box, I have a lot to offer musically.

What are you currently working on and what can we expect to see?
T.S.A(Ten Steps Ahead),is really going to be something big. I named it that because it definitely not sound like anything that’s out right now. I’m picking the right time to drop. I feel that from what I’ve learned I’m taking it and putting it into a whole cd, my buzz is slowly getting bigger and I’m the artist that been there, people just catching on . I’m one of the artists that if I put out a song,it will never sound like the last song I did prior. In my whole life i only did 2 mixtapes, I don’t really count the first one because I was really trying to find my style, but it really got me noticed online, and as my buzz starts to grow on and offline, TSA really going to be something.

Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in the industry?
Nothings really hard, you just have to put it out there for everyone to see, especially those who act like they couldn’t see it at first. Just got to turn them into believers. Coming from a hate/love city, a lot of people don’t make it from “Detroit” because a lot of people don’t want to come together like how other places are. The only thing that’s hard about making it in a “City”(urban) is that everyone wants to be a rapper, you just have to take that extra mile and make your own lane.

What was one of the biggest set backs in your career and how did you bounce back?
I can say that i have really had any thank God. But I have been approached by a few industry people from major companies and turned down at the same time and its crazy because I know that they see we’re making noise, and its time to really show them “Who Got Next” The longer your in this industry the more people you will attract, you just have to keep it going and don’t stop!

What are some things artists need to be careful of?
A lot of things, if it don’t sound right, don’t do it. People are quick to sign deals but it depends what type of deal, you might end up sitting on someones label for years, opposing to being independent on a consistent grind.

What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?
Be dedicated, patient make quality music, don’t let nobody shit on your dreams, only you can see them nobody else can see your vision. As long as you have that, your good.

What are the best ways to sell your products as an artist?
Promote, Having a great team behind you. You can be the best rapper ever, but if no one is behind you, you’ll never heard.

What is one of your favorite ways to promote yourself and your music?
The internet has changed the industry, a lot of artist careers were based off the internet, I started twitter almost a year ago, i been putting out a lot of material, performing, etc and gained my following almost at 10K. Jan 8th 2012, me & my following took over a lot of timelines and made #TeamMaxedOut a trending topic for almost a day, I don’t have fans i have Team MaxedOut which means, we live life, what ever your good at doing make sure your the best at it do it the max!

Bio

Difrent, a native Detroiter, is now ready to take on the toll of telling the other side of Detroit that a lot of people haven't been exposed to. He's been exposed to both sides, being around nice things and having money, and also the other side of not having much, no silver spoon, and having to grind. His music is influenced by the ups and downs of just coming up in a city, that people all over can relate to.

??? Difrent states that, "There's more sides to behind everything, we all been around the luxurious things that money can buy us but theres more to life, there's a whole other side to what goes on behind that".

Like many other artists, over the past couple years, Difrent has gained his following by dropping videos, and music online via youtube. Summer of 2012, his video "Get On" which he states "We shot that video out of boredom" garnished him over 300,000 youtube views leading to him receiving a few tweets from Atlanta rapper, Waka Flocka Flame saying " Detroit’s next up artist! @TheRealDifrent check out video http://youtube.com/watch?v=A7Qwun … T.S.A mixtape coming soon RT!".

Without having no major radio push or promo, that got him a lot of attention especially in the Midwest region and also leaded many rumors of him being signed but the rumors were false. Late 2012 he released his mixtape "TSA(Ten Steps Ahead) which he gained over 20k downloads his first week.??

Stay tuned as Detro??it's next rising talent continues to make a lane for the rest of the talent in the city.
