In late 2009, Tom and Jacob got their first guitars and took their first steps into the uncharted realm of musical exploration. Inspired by a pharma lab explosion, they decided to form a band that would capture the power and spontaneity of the event they witnessed. After writing some songs together, they managed to produce some rough recordings that would showcase their flourishing sound. Next, Jacob met Lloyd at a birthday party in late 2011. In a sudden moment of clarity, Jacob asked Lloyd if he would like to contribute his impressive bass skills to the band. With Lloyd on bass, Darrell, a mutual friend of all three members, quickly followed suit on the drums. With the band’s members finalized, a newly launched Digital Violet played its first show in summer of 2012.
