The Dime Store String Band grew out of a 1998 Dark Star Orchestra collaboration between John Kadlecik (mandolin and fiddle), Bob Lait (guitar), Michael Hazdra (bass), Wavy Dave Burlingame (banjo) and Lisa Mackey (vocals).
