""Li lan la" album review"

“Warm and delicate album. (...) Even when Diogal sings about serious
matters, his voice is soft and calm, his tone is always beaming.” - Mondomix

""Li lan la" album review"

“« Li Lan La » breathes authenticity and simplicity. Although Diogal
sings songs about much debated themes, in his voice, they seem
to find a fair and beautiful dimension.” - Ethnotempos

""Li lan la" album review"

“Everything there is great : a warm, moving, lightly veiled voice,
obvious melodies, clear instrumentation where the acoustic guitar
leads the way, delicate arrangements. (...) Impeccable, once again." - Chorus, Les Cahiers de la chanson

"Samba Alla" (2002, Celluloid/Melodie)
"Liir" (2004, Celluloid/Melodie)
"Li lan la" (2008, Wasia)

Born in 1970 in Senegal, Diogal is an author, composer and interpreter of his songs. Living in France, he released three albums which received great reviews by the press. Diogal passed by many concert halls and festivals, in France and abroad. In his last album, "Li lan la" (2008), Diogal finds inspiration in the musical richness related to the ethnic diversity of Senegal. He involves us in his universe with traditional African rhythms (lebous, mandingues), as well as folk and pop. Traditional percussions (sabar, tama, calbasse, brushes, cajón) mix with the western musical instruments. In his songs, Diogal pays tribute to the great Malian musician Ali Farka Touré and speaks about human behavior, people's relation to their own origins, the sea, global warming, his village and love. His third album is the first in which he ensures all the arrangements and the production. The 12 titles of the new album were recorded at Diogal's studio, "Wasia".
