With a combination of energetic instrumentation, distinct and skillful songwriting and lyrical catharsis, Dire Wolfe have one of the most powerful live performances around. Born in Liverpool in late 2008 when Daniel Croll, Tarek Musa, Joe Wills and John Stark came together with the same intentions and ideas, they have since broken out onto the North West music scene and left nothing but a trail of awe and astonishment behind them.
Their imaginative DIY promotional escapades are a testament to each band member’s dedication to the cause; distributing thousands of home made CDs across Merseyside, designing cryptic flyers for secret shows, impromptu posters crafted from gaffer tape and stuffed wolves on stage. Their creative ingenuity goes a lot further than simply producing good music.
As their name suggests, they like to deviate from the pack. Liverpool’s Dire Wolfe are an untamed, fresh-faced group who will fully restore your faith in the regeneration of British music. In the course of an hour they will happily rave about their fervent appreciation for the likes of King Tubby and Fela Kuti through to Dillinger Escape Plan, Mars Volta and Metronomy.
Perfecting their unique balance of beauty and disorder, the band delivers an unprecedented attack on the current music scene. Wild dissonant guitar playing, snaking bass lines, thundering rhythms and mesmerizing vocal hooks align together in a symbiosis certain to thrive off the competition from rivals.
The result is some of the loudest yet smoothest, most melodic moments we have yet to hear from the band.
