Dirt and Diamonds
Biography

Dirt and Diamonds are four friends whose paths crossed a few years after graduation. Brothers Claudio and Stefano, and childhood friend Mike, started Dirt & Diamonds in 2005. Shortly after Mike introduced a college friend to the band, Tino was brought on board to solidify a solid lineup of extremely talented musicians that all shared the same level of passion. Prior to forming Dirt & Diamonds, they individually went through some musical trials and tribulations, in different bands, until they found each other and the sound they were looking for.

Shortly after meeting, they recognized that they were onto something spectacular; their sound seamlessly fused elements of Hard Rock, Metal, Grunge, Alternative, and Rock while maintaining a solid melodic rock perspective,

Dirt and Diamonds was quickly becoming an original force to be reckoned with. Taking their new sound on the road, the band confirmed their vision through live performances unrivaled by any other band on the scene today. They promised and delivered a live show to their fans that has best been described as “an onslaught of high energy with in your face antics that will pull you in and won’t let you go.”

Dirt and Diamonds features the pitch-perfect vocal genius of Lead singer, Claudio De Santis, the deep certainty and drive of Stefano De Santis on bass, the guitar craftsmanship and ingenuity of Mike Iula and the driving attitude of Tino Sisca on drums. Together they expand the possibility of rock.

Meet Dirt and Diamonds:

Claudio, Lead singer song writer, also guitar
I began learning guitar and singing at around 12. It was around that time that I went to watch the band Bush, live at Maple Leaf Gardens. My first concert and I thought “I can do that” I was fuck’in amazed and from that moment on, I somehow knew that music would be a part of my life forever no matter what I had to do. I play guitar, sing and write songs and I would say my main influences are Oasis and the Beatles.

Mike, guitar and song writer
I remember a show that really changed my life. We (Dirt and Diamonds) were playing Mariachi which is one of our fan favorites. When I looked out into the crowd and saw everyone singing along – getting that reaction is what it’s all about for me. Music has always been a huge part of my life. When I was about 11 years old, I bought my first guitar and at that time I was a big Elvis fan, that had a huge influence in my style and what I bring musically to Dirt and Diamonds today.

Stefano, bass
I got into music around 9 starting with piano, and I took it very seriously. .From there, I started to teach myself other instruments, first guitar and then bass and drums. My brother Claudio had a huge effect on my music. He introduced me to a number of bands and listening to these bands made me want to grow as a musician and an artist. I remember learning the bass and guitar so I could play songs by my favourite bands – Beatles, GnR and Oasis. My favorite music is all types of rock – hard rock, rock’n’roll, metal and grunge - but I respect all kinds of music from house, to hip-hop and opera. If it sounds good, I like it.

Tino, drums
I rock out on the drums and try to add attitude and back bone to the song by enriching the tempo, and beat. Music runs through my veins and was embedded at birth. My grandfather played guitar and he loved music. He was pretty well known in his little town. My introduction to percussion was influenced by my uncle who is also a percussionist who introduced me to Rush, Genesis, Rolling Stones, Metallica and other bands which blew me away. But it wasn’t until I was 12 year old that I picked up the sticks and started drumming, because I thought “Fuck yeah, the drummer always gets the girls…” And, I always live by these words that I set for myself “Love Music, Rock Life, and Live Hard.”

Dirt and Diamonds are unstoppable. This year, the band has been signed by the prestigious Artist Development & Management firm, Alpha Music Group (AMG) located in New York City. With AMG, Dirt and Diamonds plans to produce, release, and distribute their next album in 2010 while continuing to build strong connections with their fans and touring as much as possible.
