"Dirty River - I Know You Rider"

(Self-publishing by and for the DC Metro region's music community)

"Foot stomps feature quietly in the background and prominently among listeners. That's right. It's toe-tapping goodness. A few cheesy sound effects are excusable in Dirty River's overall kicky swing of things."

Bio

Washington, DC based Dirty River was formed in March of 2004. I had envisioned something that this band never became, but it matured into something even better... something rebelious and unconventional by traditional or purist standards. We never intended nor purposefully try to break tradition. In fact, we embrace and strive to preserve it through unique arrangements and through the approach and style that comes natural. We don't however, limit our reach by methodically replicating the music that influences us.

At the heart of Dirty River is bluegrass, but the influences that are reflected in the sounds we create emerge from folk, country, rock, blues, jazz, and of course the Appalachias. Our choice of material consists of what I like to call "timeless B-sides", as well as traditionals and originals. Through our music, the sounds of the fusion of country and rock has in my own opinion had a bit of life breathed back into it. The music speaks for itself through the delicate yet swift banjo picking of Evan Sands to the furious fiddle playing of Stephane Baldi. What's more are the tight vocal harmonies and kid-like comradery of the four members who's age range spans three decades...
