Biography

Horror movies... comic books... gangster flicks... romance novels... all of these things come to mind when the word "DisasterMan" is whispered in your ear. Working together as a fully equipped functioning machine for over 4 years, DisasterMan fearlessly coughs up a chunky mix of funk & soul, rock & roll, disco-co and oh no-no!!! Their self described sound of apocalyptic disco & death boogie leaves a lot to the imagination... but after seeing the machine at work, many have come to realize that they are in fact, quite real!

They regularly play at many venues across Western Canada including The Lucky in Victoria BC, Queens in Nanaimo BC, The Railway Club and Media Club in Vancouver BC, The Central and Royal in Fernie BC, The Fluid Lounge and the Royal in Nelson BC, The Lyric in Golden BC, The Rose & Crown in Banff AB, The Canmore Hotel in Canmore AB, The Hi-Fi Club in Calgary AB, The Sidetrack Café in Edmonton AB, and the Albert and Bar Italia in Winnipeg MB.

Discography

First demo album: RARE (2004)
First LP: PREPARE TO BE ATTACKED (2005)

Our first demo album we recorded in our basement with a laptop using Cubase. We decided to name the demo "Rare" for two reasons. First, we knew the album would one day be hard to find, since we only burnt about 500 copies. Second, the album was recorded quickly and with every member of the band all playing at once, and it came out sounding pretty raw, or rare if you will.

For our second and more serious endeavour, we decided to do it old school. We hired a sound engineer (Jim Cretney) and went into an analog studio, recording the album on a 24 track reel to reel machine from 1971. The result was fantastic, capturing a fat sound that today’s digital recording methods cannot rival. The album was mixed by Jeremy Green and Jason Eastwood (of DisasterMan) so that we got the sound we were looking for, then mastered digitally by Aurea Media in Calgary, AB. The end result was the 15 song album “Prepare to be Attacked”.

DisasterMan is presently recording new material during May and June of 2008... and is gigging all summer!
