"DIY at the TLA"

"...the Disciples of Groove- a fun, jammy-type band that wasted no time kicking things into full gear with an incredible rendition of The Simpsons theme song. The band was tight, very technical and did (no) holding back."

"5 Star Review"

If you're looking for some tunes to tickle the funky, fresh, dance jam side of your musical aura, well then stop looking foo': its right here! There are a lot of progressive funk bands out there, but Disciples of Groove has a nice blend of almost everything in their music, including the crazy blips of dialogue inserted with hip-hop precision and catchy melodies that have you humming along while dancing wherever you choose to listen to your records. For fans of the jazzier side of Jurassic 5 plus for the local folk, The Blue Method. The sax is great! And their lyrics jump from rapping to singing without missing a beat. To make things grayer, they have nice rock out guitar sessions to clarify that this is a progressive funk rock band. Basically, they make sure to cover all facets to appease your musical preference so it’s almost impossible to find something you don't like in each and every one of their songs. The multi-faceted rhythm section doesn't hurt either. The lyrics on "Company Policy" are pretty funny, and the song is catchy to boot. The bass and the sax on that track are especially melodic and have their own thing going on, but it works really well for the rest of the song. If you dance on over to their website, you can hit refresh and listen to a different track each time if you're curious as to what they feed eardrums these days. Plus they have outlets on many other sites where you can snag a listen, but hit up CD Baby to get your own copy. So don't fret if you're brainwashed by commercial radio with hip-hop in your head constantly, or even if you're not conforming and allow the rock to flow more freely from your speakers - be in any musical mood you wish, Disciples of Groove will hit that taste bud and get your booty shakin'.

"Jaw Dropping Good!"

"...We then headed to the Appalachian Brewing Company for the latter part of their showcase, starting with New Jersey's Disciples Of Groove. This band was jaw-dropping good; their musicianship was amazing! Bassist Rob Smith, drummer David Gardner, singer/guitarist Dan Jost and saxophonist Matt Totora incorporated varying styles and tempos into their brand of progressive funk rock, crafting catchy and mesmerizing grooves and melodies."

"Remember when..."

...music was what really mattered in the music industry? When bands like Funkadelic were blowing up? When Curtis Mayfield and James Brown were reinventing our entire concept of groove? Remember when cats like Coltrane could lay down some knowledge with a tune like Giant Steps? Probably not. All of that happened 30 or more years ago. D.O.G are one of the few bands hearkening back to that tradition of well...talent, ambition, and musicianship. They blend together the virtuosity and artful arrangements of bands like Rush and early Yes with the solid backbone and neck-snapping funk of the Meters and the Chilli Peppers. Their songs are catchy, the musicianship incomparable. So do the music industry a favor--send them a message, and make sure it's loud, crude, and filled with profanity. BUY THIS CD. Stop supporting corporate pablum and support the invigorating style represented on D.O.G.'s ep. If not for yr sake, then the sake of yr children's idea of taste. After all, do you really want them to live their life believing Fall Out Boy was the best band of their generation? - Matt Landis - Independent Music Critic

""...the latest and greatest Philly export""

Philadelphia has long been home to a musical stew that combines ingredients ranging from jazz to phunk to hiphop to reggae to jambands - Disciples of Groove are the latest to add their own pinch of spice to that simmering pot. Picking up the ball from G.Love, Fathead, Townhall, and others, DoG are working on becoming the latest and greatest Philly export.

"It's exciting and electric, funky and eccentric. The directions of these Disciples will pull listeners into an aural tug-of-war with funk and rock. While this combination is no second-coming of the wheel, these musicians have laced their flavor with fatty punches and natural orchestration. Top-notch musicianship all around- and with the gift to not overplay. Vocally they're working with the crisp 70's innocence of 1-inch tape and no effects."

4.5 out of 5 stars

"Everything about this hard-boiled funk record is exactly right. Expertly played on all parts, but, like most funk bands, the bassist gets a special nod for laying down some cool, spunky-ass lineage. The guitar solos are musical and raw - a pair of traits rarely achieved together by any guitarist, and the drums compliment each song gorgeously, driving and melodic in their own rite. The horns rock, the songs rock, if you dig funk (and who doesn't?), get this record. You won't be sorry." - Origivation Magazine

"Chemistry Review"

"OH .... MY .....GOD !!"

This is SUPERB !!!

It is a happy funky bright original....... damn good tune.

The guitar lick at the start hooks you straight away, the horns add to the flavour, the bass solo's and licks .... WOW!! and finnished off by some killer guitars. Great vocals just enhance the song.

The arranging and production is first class. This is one of the best songs I have heard IN A LONG TIME

I have listened to it about 6 times in a row and still not bored. Top Top stuff guys !

"XPlosive"

The song keeps on driving. Funky and rocking guitars make the backdrop for this "oh god, screw her." track, and the sax is an awesome addition. Vocals are good, laid back and appropriate in stlying to the emotion of the song. Production is clean, everything's pretty damn good.
Keep making songs like this, and there's not much that can stop you.
