"Disco Doom "Ex Teenager" (Pitchfork)"

Swiss outfit Disco Doom have played with some of indie rock's heaviest hitters-- Built to Spill, Dinosaur Jr., and Butthole Surfers among them-- and this December they will release their third, as-yet-untitled full-length via Exploding in Sound in the U.S. and Defer in Europe. On the album's first single "Ex-Teenager", the duo-- Gabriele De Mario on lead vocals and guitar and Anita Rufer on guitar, bass, keys and vocals-- plunges face-first into the same lo-fi Brian May-esque guitar licks that gave Girls' long-winded "Vomit" its plaintive punch. But unlike Chris Owens, De Mario and Rufer are quick to the point. Just as suddenly as "Ex-Teenager" arrives, the existential drama turns into a lullaby that dissolves and then evaporates before you even have time to put together what just happened. - Pitchfork

"Disco Doom – “Rice & Bones” (Stereogum Premiere)"

A few months back we got to hear the first single off Disco Doom’s then-untitled album. Now we know the album is called Numerals and with that there is a new single that changes things up a bit. “Rice & Bones” is a sweeter and gentler track than “Ex-Teenager,” and though it does grow to a noise peak in the center, it never quite explodes the way you think it might. Doing so would likely have been an easy way out, and the band brings a sensitivity to their riffing that is far more satisfying. Listen below. - Stereogum

"Disco Doom – “Ex Teenager” (Stereogum Premiere)"

Long time noise-rockers Disco Doom show that unpredictability doesn’t have to fade with time on this track from their upcoming album. In barely two minutes “Ex Teenager” shifts from a hook-filled rocker to pastoral psychedelia, eventually hitting a full-on noise assault near the end. Yet it all flows organically, you never quite notice all the different moving parts. The band’s laid back vibe helps mask a lot of the layered complexity going on here. Listen below and check out some upcoming tour dates for when Disco Doom goes on the road with Built To Spill. - Stereogum

Disco Doom, is the guitar noise rock project of Zurich-based Gabriele De Mario (lead vocals, guitar) and Anita Rufer (guitar, keys, vocals) and Flo Goette (bass). Actually they play with different drummers.
In the last years the band toured extensively throughout Europe and the United States, opened whole tours for Built to Spill in Europe (2008/2013) and the U.S. (2009) and toured in the same time also a lot on their own. Beside that the band opened single shows for such notables as Dinosaur Jr., Deerhoof, Butthole Surfers, Black Angels, Giant Sand, Lou Barlow, Dominique A. and played shows at the ATP Festival London, Filter Los Angeles, Seattle Street Art Festival, Cropped Out Festival Louisville/KY etc. The bands ingenuity has also earned some awards and accolades in their home country.
Disco Doom did record between 2012 and 2013 the new album NUMERALS in NYC, Seattle and Zurich and it will be released by Exploding in Sounds for the USA and Defer Rec for Switzerland/EU on feb 11th 2014. Like their last record 'Trux Reverb', Jim Roth recorded them again, now in his own studio Ft. Lawton. The drums are played this time by Scott Plouf (who was also drummer of Built to Spill until last year).

"Disco Doom is the impossible match of huge mesmerizing noise rock, and delicately crafted melodies. The meeting point of precious and fragile voices, devastating amount of thick guitars, and mental drums to give an hypnotic music you can only fall in love with (IC-Tours)".
