"Disconnect 4: buzzing"

About 30 seconds into The Rise , the guitars step in and Disconnect 4 whoosh up, up and away. That’s all it takes to know why this Galway four-piece have gathered so much traction recently.

The other tunes on their MySpace site are just as tasty – if you’re looking for an act that understands the co-relation between classic pop and cutting-edge indie, you’ve come to the right place.

Others appear to agree. Disconnect 4 enjoy radio support from such new band gurus as BBC Radio One’s Huw Stephens and Steve Lamacq. They’ve also recorded a session for 2FM’s Dan Hegarty and have a welter of support slots to their credit with Fight Like Apes, New Amusement, Future Kings of Spain and others.

The next step on the ladder is the release of an EP next month, recorded with Martin Dubka, the Cazals’ bass-player turned electro-indie producer who has shown he’s a dab hand with remixes via Late of the Pier and Pin Me Down.

What Dubka does to Disconnect 4 will be well worth hearing. - The Irish Times

"11.11.08 DISCONNECT 4"

From Galway, Ireland,Disconnect 4 are your second unsigned SNAP this week and proprietors ofthe best hair cuts in this column for some time. Honestly, they'rereally great. Musically they rather good too, plying through hundredsof skittering cymbals, 80s pop progressions and plenty of synthesizeron 'One For The Team' - all at breakneck speed. Undoubtedly influencedby The Cure and the more recent explosion of The Killers, they'vealready racked up a number of excellent support slots back home, including one with Birmingham dullards The Twang, but don't hold thatagainst them. - CMU

- Alison Curtis, TodayFM

Galway-based fourpiece Disconnect 4 have just released their very first EP entitled ‘Modern Love’.

The Modern Love EP sees Martin Dubka (Cazals/Kitsuné) step into the helm of the goodship Disconnect to bring us tracks ‘Disco Never Changes’, ‘Ghosts Before Dawn, ‘Modern Love’, and ’Eighteen’.

After just 2 years together building a solid reputation as one of the brightest upcoming bands in Ireland, we are delighted to announce the EP and an accompanying Irish tour with dates in Galway, Dublin, Sligo and Cork.

After gigging heavily throughout 2008/09 Disconnect4 know how to put on a good live show, which is why they have garnered attention from some of the biggest names in the industry such as Alison Curtis of Today FM (“It’s fantastic, really love it”) and Steve Lemacq of BBC Radio1. Described by Hotpress as “A Foalesque indie band who combine strong vocals and catchy riffs”, their synth-based indie-pop tunes are regularly played on major UK & Ireland radio stations, and online music network CMU even listed them as Band of the Month in November 2008.

Over the past few months they have been busy recording a live 2FM session with Dan Hegarty (“The new material is really good”), a session with Muzu.tv, another with BBC Northern Ireland, and an appearance on TG4. More recently they were among only six bands to be chosen from over 900 entries to play the Best of IMRO showcase in the Village on 2nd May this year.
