"An Evening of Entertainment, from laughs to llamas"

...After all laughs were had and done, I headed over to Baba’s Lounge, where DJ Jakt was spinning some luscious beats as The Disco Rockin’ Llamas were getting set to take the stage to kick it live for the release of their brand new self-titled six-song EP.
You could tell right from the get-go that singer/guitarist Ashley Gorman, singer/keyboardist Laura Oakie, bassist/backing vocalist Eric Coffin and drummer Scott Doyle had some impressive high-octane fuel in their llama engine.
Playing a pumping, seamless set of tunes, including a feature cut from the EP, Small Victory, and crowd-igniting covers like The Shape I’m In, Shakedown Street and Funky Town, the foursome fiercely proved to the well-populated, solidly-dancing-it-up crowd how they’ve risen to the top of the P.E.I. jam band scene over their year-and-a-half-long existence.
A small victory, yes, some might say, but armed with this new EP, available at Back Alley Discs, certainly the band has many more victories in store on the horizon.

Bio

Disco Rockin' Llamas love music. Their sound is earmarked by an exploratory spirit, as the band regularly draws upon influences as diverse as funk and blue grass, disco and progressive rock. The band can get quite deep into these musical vehicles, bringing the open-minded listener along for a journey. No two shows are the same and the unexpected can and does happen regularly. Embracing a jazz-like mentality of many-voices making a whole, where each member plays to make everyone else sound better, Disco Rockin' Llamas can be considered a real band.

Formed in December 07' the Llamas have quickly become a mainstay on Prince Edward Island, performing in all sorts of interesting nooks and crannies. As they look into the future, they see smiling faces, bright lights and Phat tones. Living for the now, and playing for nothing more than the present moment, has allowed these Llamas to express an honesty that is welcomed in this age.
