"Distant Pham"

DP Studio rests on the second floor of Wiz’s 2-story town house located in Shalimar Florida. The Walls are decorated with Jedi posters and other Star Wars memorabilia. The room is crowded with studio equipment and various beat making tools. Wizard, half of the powerful rap duo Distant Pham, sits patiently in this untraditional studio exchanging views with Reality (the Pham’s other half) about the fate of their long awaited album, The Love.
Distant Pham has been working on this project for over a year. “We moved a lot of units selling our last album and we learned a lot from that experience.” Says Wiz. “We now understand the importance of promoting and just focusing on pushing the product. Last time we sold CDs for less than a month before we started recording songs for the next project.” The Pham has recorded over 60 songs for The Love album. “It’s been quite a process picking the best 18 songs, but we feel more confident with the final product”, claims Wiz. The Love is a musical experience reminiscent of a time when true hip hop reign supreme in the world of rap music. Though different than a lot of albums out right now, The Love is well produced with extreme talent in writing, spitting, and beat production. Distant Pham captivates the listener with cuts such as their title song “The Love” where they creatively express their love for the art of rhyming setting the tone for the basis of the album. They show versatility on tracks such as “Get Right” and “Follow Me” where the Pham totally flip their style to show there is no boundaries to their talent. In fact, every song is has a different style, but Reality and Wiz remain comfortable on each song. “We worked real hard to not fall into the trap that many new artist get caught in with formatting their whole album or demo to what is on the radio in an attempt to make commercial music.” Wiz expresses. “Reality and I just come together to make good music, but also music that will be different and refreshing compared to what’s out there now. We do whatever we want free from thoughts based on a set format. We’re avid hip-hop fans so we can feel when we’re creating something that people will vibe too.” With the album finished, Distant Pham will now enter the promotional stage of this music business. The Pham has agreed upon the photo that will become the cover of their new album and they are now working on the various poster and sticker designs.
Distant Pham has been successful in their own right, but now its time for the whole world to experience the talented genius of these two musical lyricists. The Pham’s album, The Love, is filled to its full capacity with potential hits and head bangers. Though different from a lot of music out, the album still stays true to the essence of hip-hop. Prepare yourself for a complete package filled with, both, hot beats and tight lyrics. Stay tuned as Distant Pham brings balance back to the force we call Hip-Hop.

Bio

In the first minute of a DISTANT PHAM song, you will already feel the raw, high energy given off by these two lyricists. Even in high school, rapping over Wu-Tang Clan instrumentals, they proved a force to be reckoned with. DP embraces hip-hop in its truest form. Their talents out shined those who opposed them during verbal battle with freestyles that would match any one's written lyrics. That was years ago, on the playgrounds, in alleys and school hallways--- the PHAM has grown.

It all started the summer of ’95 in Okinawa Japan when Reality and Wizard connected and started taking their talents more seriously. Unfortunately, taking rap “more seriously” back then was rapping on instrumentals from store bought singles and recording vocals in a studio that consisted of a karaoke machine and microphone. After graduation, Wiz and Reality both joined the military to sustain a stable life, while supporting their dreams of becoming professional rap artists. DISTANT PHAM has come a long way. They have progressed greatly from the days of the karaoke machine to a Roland VS-1880, the same digital multi-track recorder used by the Neptune’s. The Wiz now makes beats using the MPC 2000XL, which is the tool of choice for many industry level artists, such as Organized Noize (Outkast), Dr. Dre, and High-Tek. These advanced tools of recording and beat making, in addition to the PHAM’s unique talent, puts them ahead of many artists at this level in the industry. Having the ability to produce music influenced by those who led the way for them gives them the opportunity to perfect a sound uniquely DISTANT PHAM. Their up beat, fluent rap style is complete with well thought out, witty and at times complex lyrics that clearly set them both apart from and above the rest.

There’s no doubt that DISTANT PHAM’s specialty is the aggressive battle rap format, but they are not at all limited to just that. Their versatility is proven on such tracks as “Get Right” and “Follow me” where they use a tongue twisting mid-western style or tracks such as “The Love” where they express their intimacy and love for Hip-Hop.

The industry has been flooded with so many variations of commercial hip-hop that it has become the desire and personal conquest of DP to not only be heard, but more importantly, become the voice of hip-hop. DISTANT PHAM intends to separate the real and true lyricists from those who just rap in the industry with a call for Dialog. These young men are true and skillful artists of rap with unbelievable delivery and the presence to be noticed in the most crowded of areas. DISTANT PHAM is destine to take the industry and the masses across the nation by surprise and change the current state of Hip-Hop. Bare witness as Distant Pham reaches Deep Inside Souls That Are Never Touched, while always keeping Principles Held Above Money! Who’s ready?
