The best kept secret in music

“filling my ears with a veritable thunder of the metal ass-kicking I was about to receive...This band has the look, the feel, the presence, the sound, the UMMMPH that a metal crowd goes absolutely nuts for... with the mosh pit to prove it.” - www.austinlive.com

“Habit Box is loaded with hard metal grinding guitar, pounding drums, angry bass, electronic touches, and vocals…that just resonate METAL... made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.” - www.austinlive.com

“More industrial than metal, more vocal processing than screaming. Reminded me of the glory days of KMFDM!” - www.rankandreview.net

"...easy on the eyes and pretty rough with their chiseled sound ...a tough-love lullaby for the young masochist blossoming inside of each of our black hearts." - www.rankandreview.com

Feeling a bit camera shy

Originating out of the self–proclaimed “Live Music Flea Market of the World” (Austin, TX) and fueling sonic division through massive electro-metal power with a distorted approach, DISTEMPERED welds ballsy metal-chunks of sickness to synthesized insanity while drenching the outcome with gasoline and lighting the match of chaos. Over and over they have proven to be a worthy public choice to open live shows for national acts all over the region, and they continue to spread by way of their powerful performances (and sticking-out like a sore thumb). DISTEMPERED began in 1998 in a bedroom studio full of equipment from pawn loans gone wrong, as founder DB Chilcutt worked at a pawn shop at the time of inception. This project was kicked off with a busted sampler, ancient drum machine, a Macintosh laptop computer...it wasn’t new either, and a little common sense. A few months later, and with help from a few friends, the songs began to take shape. It was time to get a band of like-minded trigger men to make the music breathe new life. Smutzky Laughlin was the key element of this turn of events. The ep HABIT BOX was completed between october 2000 and february 2001. Regional and out of state touring started on a regular basis, and the band remained heavily active for 2 years. after many tight shows, many new fans and a new member, DISTEMPERED was back in action with making a follow-up to the HABIT BOX ep in may 2004. Walker was admitted into the DISTEMPERED camp during the last few days studio work, with a vengance that proved his worth. 2005 will witness the release of a new full-length recording, titled Department of Correction. The band has written, engineered and produced all effort to date internally, and manipulate daily and nightly in their own recording element in the heart of South Texas. The raw power of their live performances continue to re-educate the masses and leave them scarred and fiending for more. There is no denying the solidity of DISTEMPEREDs conjured psychocharged disruption that pulls the trigger in your face and leaves loops and glitches scattered like the aftermath of the backside of your head...WE ARE PROGRAMMING TE APOCALYPSE FOR YOU!!!
