District of East

Somewhere between Crowded House, The Verve and Ryan Adams you will find a gregarious bunch of gents from Brisbane, Australia, who collectively, call themselves ‘District of East’. Formed Mid 2008 as the result of a University assessment piece while at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Mike Mogridge (Vocals, Guitars), Chris Dowdle (Vocals, Guitars, Keys) and Brenton Fitzgerald (Drums, Vocals Percussion) decided to take their project beyond the classroom and try their luck in the real world.

The trio enlisted Trav Hagstrom on bass duties and a little later, Matt Heindorff and his arsenal of vintage analogue synths and with that District of East was Born. Their debut self titled EP, which was recorded and produced completely by the band themselves, cross’ elements of folk, rock, and country to produce a sound more akin to the mid to late 90’s than what exists on the musical landscape today.

The band are, at present, about to again close their bedroom doors to undertake the next offering of the recorded variety. In the meantime, the District of East gents plan on promoting their current release with many more shows in around OZ which at present has seen them support the likes of ‘Boy and Bear’ and ‘Stu Larsen’.
